I am new to the board but have lurked for quite some time. I was thrilled when we got Grant and was hoping we would get him instead of UGA getting him. I could tell from the get go that he had a plan and on the court that plan included fundamentals, hussle and defense 1st. Offense and self glorification 2nd. This team is looking like a CAG expects to look and I think we will get better offensive players down the road but if they do not buy into his philosophy, forget about playing time. I look at this basketball program and see a team that is fundamentaly sound (just look at our crisp passing as of late), gets after the loose balls and takes charges and is disiplined offensively. And, they are playing and carrying theirselves with confidence. I followed the team closely even in CMG final years and would sit there sometimes shaking my head. I never screamed nor booed because I felt like we were getting what we paid for if you will in all phases from a coaching standpoint. Now, I still think this program under CAG has better days ahead of it. I believe he will do big things.

It'll take a while for the bandwagoners to come back...
LOL! Some of us bandwagoners would have gotten the boot from TideFans if we had been allowed to say what we really thought on here. So we shut up and went to more pleasant topics lol! its good to see coach Grant and the team doing good. Lets hope they can keep it going! Tennessee is going to be a big game. Win that one and the NCAA's is looking great!

this team is playing the way the game should be played.defense and hustle and actually playing together as long as they continue playing this way bigger things will happen for them, we have a bball coach who has a plan and the will to bend his players into it and get great effort from them looking forward to watching them win and go to the big dance.

I'll say this..LOL....

I appreciate the basketball followers here because i don't know if I've ever seen less interest.

Would my fellow Basketballers agree?

Sip, I guess you would call me a "fair weather fan". I have taken a renewed interest becasue I like the "team play" exhibited by Bama under Coach Grant. I have always been a proponent of good defense and have not seen Bama doing this well since Wimp days. I plan to get down to see a game soon; likely the Ole Miss game.

I am hoping Bama keeps their focus and comes through this road trip with a win; hopefully TN.

It would be great if we win the West and get a few wins in the SEC tourney and hopefull make the NCAA tourney.

well, I've been one of the MIAs this season, so please accept my apologies. One observation on the interest level: In my 40 years as a fan, it's always been a little tenuous, in that it takes a whole lot of success to get the fan base heated up and very little disappointment to deflate the entire congregation.

That said, something is building here. More and more of us are slowly catching on. Just like the Indian fans in "Major League." As in: "You know, these guys ain't so stinkin' bad!"

Near the end, we let more be said about CMG, just as we did the last year or so with CMS. After a while, it gets to be a "the emperor has no clothes" situation...

There is a major difference in the current coaching that is for sure. For the record, I really liked CMG! Perhaps some of that was left over from his playing days at Bama but I always liked him and hoped he would become a Bama coaching legend.

However, I think if we compare CMG and CAG the main thing is that Mark consistently did less with more and right now Coach Grant is doing more with less. I don't mean that as a slam on the current team, but I do think the talent level is probably going to get much better (especially on the offensive side) and if Bama continues the defensive pressure we've seen this year they are really going to be a team to contend with in the very near future.

Bama is winning with defense, but you still have to score points and that will prove to be our achilles heel at some point this season. As long as Charvez Davis continues his hot shooting, we'll be fine, but if he goes cold we'll struggle to outscore other teams, even with our great D.

BTW, last night I saw Levi Randolph play (Bob Jones v. Hazel Green) and Levi really has some fine offensive skills. He scored 26 points with relative ease. He's a good ball handler, he can get to the rim and he has a nice 3 point stroke. I think he'll make an impact next year at Bama! And, if Reggie Ragland was about 6'8", he'd have as much potential on the basketball court as the football field. He's an amazing athlete! He threw down a couple of dunks that rattled the rafters!!

Right. There comes a point when the "public defenders" have no case to defend!

I've only seen one full game so far this year. I will watch today for sure. I see what everyone else is saying, these guys are playing good ball. Fun to watch. Pressing, D, breaking down the zone and not letting up. I like this team and see good things coming. They have their "legs" this year. I remember MJ saying you can judge a team by their legs. We don't have the "jimmy" legs, we got game legs. Roll Tide Baby!

I am proud again to be a Bama basketball fan! Anytime we beat UT is great but the way this team did it is so unexpected! Only great coached teams win on the road at the free throw line in a close game! Defense always wins championships but composure and the belief we are going to win won this game! ROLL TIDE ROLL!!!

I will say I have been skeptical after the dismal start to the season, but this is a tough team that is finding ways to win games. This team has the West in hand and if they can do well enough in the sec tourney, then Bama be back in the tourney. I really like the defense this team is playing and am excited about the future.

You mean best team they've faced this year? If so, that's high praise since they've already played UNC, Washington, Louisville, and Notre Dame.
Yes, thanks for the correction. Definitely high praise and another BIG win tonight to add to the season resume. Thursday will be another big test.

Always sweet to beat any team in orange. Excellent TEAM victory. Our defense will really be tested by the "dores who shot 11 out of 20 treys in their victory over South Carolina. Classic battle against a spot up shooting team verus a defensive whirlwind. Let's sink Vandy!!
