I'm thinking the "sigh" version for his first name. I'm picturing Verne having fun with the last name (Kwan-jdro is how I understand it's pronounced) especially if Arie and Cyrus end up next to each other at LT and LG.What is the correct pronunciation of Cyrus's name? I've heard SIGH-rus, and I've heard SEER-us. I know how frustrating it can be to have your name mispronounced, and I just want to make sure I get his right. Amazingly, I've gotten the pronunciation of his last name down pat.![]()
I think that is up to him to make that info public if he chooses. He has been vetted by Tide Fans and he is family.I feel like a little girl who just got the pony she's been asking for. I loved reading the first 2 pages of this thread where it was "Not sure" "Can't Confirm" "Looks real" "I'm skeptical"... then BOOM! Lovin' it!
Also...
Can someone please tell me Magnanga's secret identity now?! I don't do facebook so I couldn't take him up on his FB request to everyone... I didn't PM him or others in order not to bother a Kouandjio family member.
Magnanga, now that Cyrus is in the house, I will be hounding you day and night.

Wow... Just wow at the vitriol being spewed by AU fans.
I'm not linking to it or posting screen caps, but they have really been showing their true colors. I know we had our own little bru-hah-hah here last week, but my goodness that was like a kindergarten kerfuffle compared to what I've been seeing this morning.
I am delighted that this outstanding young man is going to play for Alabama, but if he had decided that Auburn was the place for him, I would have been disappointed but no way would I spew such nastiness.
Not only is Cyrus going to play for a great program, with a great coaching staff and the greatest fans on earth, he is also going to get a great education and fulfill the intentions of his mother and father, who moved to the United States so that their children could get that great education.
Cyrus Kouandjio, the nation's top-rated offensive tackle, ended an intense recruiting battle between Alabama and Auburn on Saturday by signing with the Crimson Tide.
The 6-foot-6, 322-pound star from DeMatha Catholic High School in Hyattsville, Md., sent his letter of intent to Alabama, where he will join his brother, Arie, a redshirt freshman offensive lineman.
Kouandjio was the consensus top offensive line prospect in the nation by Rivals.com, ESPNU, Scout.com, SuperPrep and Tom Lemming. He was rated the No. 2 overall player nationally by Scout.com and SuperPrep Magazine, the No. 3 prospect in the ESPNU 150, the No. 3 prospect by Lemming at MaxPreps and the No. 4 overall player by Rivals.com.
The Auburn-Alabama rivalry added another chapter Saturday when Cyrus Kouandjio of Hyattsville (Md.) DeMatha signed his letter of intent with the Crimson Tide.
Kouandjio, ranked No. 3 player in the ESPNU 150 and top offensive line prospect in the nation, signed with the Tide after telling a national television audience on signing day he was going to play for Auburn.
"Yes, I signed with Alabama," Kouandjio said. "I'm just glad it's done."
things like this make me despise the Auburn fanbase that much more. Ugh.Stewart Mandel from SI is posting some quotes from AU fans on Cyrus' Facebook page. Most are ripping him for letting his dad or family choose for him. That cracks me up to no end especially coming from that fan base. So Cam Newton's dad picking what school he ended up going to is different? Pot meet kettle....
Three days after telling a national television audience that he would attend Auburn, DeMatha offensive lineman Cyrus Kouandjio, widely considered one of the nation's top recruits, rebuffed the national champions and committed to rival Alabama on Saturday, quietly faxing in his letter of intent.
It was a curious and anticlimactic end to a tale that revealed the indecisive nature of a highly sought-after teenage football recruit, the strength of family bonds and the high-stakes pressure of choosing between two elite college football programs.
Friends and family said all along that Kouandjio, 17, wasn't ready to announce his decision on Wednesday, the first day high school football players could sign binding letters of intent. At 5:53 that morning, Kouandjio wrote on his Facebook page that he was "utterly confused."
Kouandjio, the nation’s No. 2 overall prospect, committed to Alabama’s in-state rival, defending BCS National Champion Auburn, during a nationally-televised announcement on Wednesday, which was national signing day for college football.
Following that announcement, Kouandjio started to have second thoughts about his decision and did not fax the letter-of-intent, which would have been binding, to Auburn. What followed was a re-opening of his recruitment and what ended up being primarily a two-way battle between the Tide and Tigers, though New Mexico and Iowa both were mentioned as possibilities.
Alabama was considered the favorite for Kouandjio throughout most of the process, but Auburn, which has perhaps the top offensive line recruiting class in the country, charged hard late and appeared to have won the battle prior Kouandjio pulling off the decision and ultimately signing with Alabama.
So much for the barn's fambly pitch. Guess it doesn't include the prospect's family.Stewart Mandel from SI is posting some quotes from AU fans on Cyrus' Facebook page. Most are ripping him for letting his dad or family choose for him. That cracks me up to no end especially coming from that fan base. So Cam Newton's dad picking what school he ended up going to is different? Pot meet kettle....
Not me. People with that kind of hate ends up destroying themselves. All I do is simply shake my head and move on.things like this make me despise the Auburn fanbase that much more. Ugh.
You are correct, but I still despise them. Not me. People with that kind of hate ends up destroying themselves. All I do is simply shake my head and move on.
I like it..... I'm going to have to borrow that and use it at work tomorrow.Seriously, I hope the new UA commercial campaign is, "so much bigger than a family.....we're an entire nation."
