As expected, Clowney picks USCe

Just curious, has anyone seen an article released with a direct quote or any video of Clowney himself saying Bama has been eliminated?

No just the Fox Sports Scout.com reporter Laura Mckeeman tweeted that is what Clowney confirmed to her. Obviously the situation is fluid and things could change but that is the first time I have heard anything about Bama not being in it attributed to Clowney himself.

Laura Mckeeman tweeted:
For what it's worth, Jadeveon Clowney confirmed to me wht some sources are saying: #Clemson and #SouthCarolina are his 2 finalists.

Jamie Newberg just tweeted that JC's announcing at 1015 on the 14th. He also said that it still between 3 schools per JC's mom.

Unless his family can move over to Bama, I don't see him coming... He's good enough to be a top 5 draft no matter where he goes.

Exactly. Guys we'll have to let JC go. I'd love to have him. But his mom wants him to stay close to home. And JC has talked a lot about his mom and family and how much that means to him. If it were not for CNS, I don't even think our name would even be mentioned. It has been a great haul this year. Actually the great thing is not so much this year but the string of top 10 years. For us to stay near the top, we'll have to continue to stay in the top 10 every year and so far so good.

Oh, I'm sure she is, but she wants to go to all of his games. Distance is a big factor, and I think if it wasn't such a long drive then I'd feel a little better about it. If she had her choice, he would go to SC.

You know if I were the #1 player in the U.S. you better bet I would want a Nat'l Championship and I'd be looking at Bama. But go figure, he'll be at Clemson or USCe. Does not make any sense to me. Clearly he can develop into an NFL player at USCe with Ellis as coach but I think I'd want more than that.

She can watch him lose in person or win on TV. I know Mama wants to see her boy do good but in this case it comes with NC's or not...

Maybe championships are not as important to him as having his mom being close enough to see him play! It seems selfish that she does not want him to play where he has the best chance of wining a championship. He is putting his family ahead of every thing else and I do not fault him for that!

Are we sure this is her desire and not his? Some 17 year olds just aren't ready to be seperated from their family.

Obviously Bama fans would love to have Clowney join the team. Unfortunately right now it looks like to most followers of this situation that the Bama hat that he is wearing will just be a hat on the table when he picks SC on Feb. 14th.

Having that hat on the table is very good advertising........If we don't get him I hope he goes to Clemson....:)

This is probably closer to the truth than anything else. The kid will play a couple or three years, head to the NFL with his millions, buy mama a new house and car, and have her around all the time. For great players such as this kid projects to be, college is just a stopping off station on the way to the NFL and millions of dollars.

Just hope the kid doesn't get hurt along the way. Bad thing about being the best player on the team is some schools think that if they take out the best player then they will have a better chance of winning the game. Reminds me of that school down the road. Auburn Tigers have been known for playing dirty like that and they aren't the only ones. I remember the chop blocks and shoulder pads to the knee caps too well.
