Poll results for NSB: Trump (86%) defeats Obama (14%).

Poll results for normal people: Obama (43%) defeats Trump (41%).

This ain't rocket surg'ry. On the distribution curve of political opinion, this place sits 2+ standard deviations to the right. Hence: terribly out-of-touch.

I'm glad threads like this exist to remind us all how out of touch this place really is. ;)
How does an opinion of who one will vote for qualify as 'out of touch'? It would appear TF is predominantly right-wing and/or conservative (not necessarily the same thing), certainly, but I'm not sure how you can make such a leap unless you simply can't understand or admit that it's OK that some folks to have a different view than you.

Question answers self.

Certainly the self-proclaimed and often aggressive bias puts this place out of touch with the views of the general population. It's interesting that y'all accept (or even embrace) this observation, yet are reflexively offended when it's pointed out.

the fact that the heavily populated northeast has a different bias than a local alabama board shouldnt be surprising at all. there is the additional consideration that perhaps all those people in the beloved north are wrong and are leading this country into a cesspool and it would be good to not share their views.

one further thing- out of touch and disagreeing with views are two completely different things. most people know and understand the northeast view and we simply dont agree with it. what sends shudders down my spine is not the % difference in votes. what makes me shudder is that those two are our choices. any sane person that isnt an idealogue would see the obvious flaws in both and wouldnt want anything to do with them.

I'll grant you the red herring that, were a poll skewed 90-10 in favor of Obama here, it would be equally out-of-touch. Mine was not a passing of judgement, though it's telling that some seemed to presume it was.

I don't care for Trump, but would be interested in hearing, from a finance perspective, how he'd propose to get the country back on track economically.

In fact, I'd welcome a president who had proven business savvy, understood what it takes to run a large corporation/country, and was willing to trust other experts in areas that he has some unfamiliarity.

No, it doesn't actually, unless you simply feel that someone who disagrees with you is automatically 'out of touch'. Try again.

I'm not sure you actually understand what the seemingly obvious term 'out of touch' even means.

Just because the overall slant here (a board comprised heavily of folks from one part of the country) doesn't match up with a particular poll (from another part of the country) doesn't mean anyone from either viewpoint is out of touch - it simply means different folks have different opinions.

I know you want to comfort yourself by trying to paint those with differing opinions as less intelligent or informed, but the reality is that some folks simply view things differently than you. And some of them are likely *gasp* even more informed than you are...

It's interesting that some of you try so very hard to clutch pearls and claim victimhood over any perceived slight.

You know far, far less than you presume.

And since I can't respond to you as candidly as you respond to others, given your moderator status, I'll leave you to your echo chamber.

Of course you can.

I honestly don't know these double-Ds you're referring to. Linkie?

Of course you can.

I should say the same about your constant edits. Either join the immature arguments that comprise the backbone of this place or sit quietly at the kid's table, mkay. :)

Indeed.

I simply noted that calling those who feel differently than others aren't necessarily 'out of touch'...

It's worth noting I feel no 'victimhood' or 'slight' here - projection, maybe?
"Out-of-touch" with the political barometer of the country? Absolutely true, and with links to demonstrate.

But why does it seem that you jumped to the conclusion I meant "out-of-touch" with reality, and with presumed negativity? Projection, perhaps?

When you start with some valid, meaningful arguments, I respond in kind where necessary. I'm not expecting that to commence any time soon. Your arrogance, with no discernible basis, remains a constant, however.

Out of touch does not mean one disagrees with something but rather, they are ignorant of it.
