I've been seeing and hearing some very encouraging things about Kiel lately. We are definitely a very serious contender. He seems to be concentrating on 5 schools- Michigan, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Mizzou, and Bama. A lot of people think it will be OU or Bama at this point. He is definitely getting a lot of buzz, and I would watch this one carefully.
 
Well, if Winston is not coming because of baseball, we need a BIG time QB this fall. Can't really blame Winston if he's going to be a first round pick. WAY, WAY too much guaranteed money to pass up if he's a 1st rounder.

I agree. From what I've heard, he should be a pretty high draft pick. I have a hard time believing he'll pass up all that money to play football. But we'll see--I mean that's a long way off. Either way, we'll be fine at QB.

I have heard the same things, but many believe that Mizzou with what Gabbert accomplished there recently will be the darkhorse in this race. and for added drama, ND is now the one to watch for since he has family ties. what ties, I don't know. in other words, who really knows at this point....

Read on another board yesterday that he dropped ND and that OU is the team to beat. If him and DGB want to play together OU might get both in the end. Especially if they can live up to all the hype for the fall.

I find it hard to believe that the kid has already dropped ND, especially this early in the process.

Again anything from any board is a rumor no matter who someone knows and anyone beside the player himself is just making an educated guess. But I was only posting what I read from the 247 boards and seen it elsewhere. In reality though I do not think it matters if he did or not because I feel our chances are slim with this kid in the end.

Thanks! Is he our number 1 QB prospect and have we backed off Winston because of baseball? It seems like we haven't heard much about him lately.

There has been no backing off of Winston on Bama's part. He is not a certain first round MLB draft pick but there are strong indicatins that he could by next year. You could say Winston and Kiel are 1a and 1b as far as Bama's QB prospects go. I am not sure which one is 1a and/or 1b though. They are both high priorities as far as I can see.

Like surf said 1 A and B. I think we can get both. And the reason Winston has been quiet is because of baseball season ongoing. Kind of the same reason kwon has been quiet because of aau I believe.
 
Agreed, this will be a rare OU/Bama recruiting battle.

I would LOVE to have him, but I'd give a slight edge to OU, where he has visited multiple times also. Their O is more pass-happy and will give him a big platform to show his passing skills, here he'll be handing the ball off 50 % of the time two yds deep to a power RB and being primarily a game manager. I think it also depends on his top priorities and personal goals--I think he'd have a better chance to win NC's at the collegiate level with us, but if a huge NFL contract is his main objective, then I see him following Sam Bradford and going to Norman.
