Agreed.Right now, he's throwing downfield without air under the ball. It looks just like Brodie Croyle. If he can learn that, the skies the limit...
It's wasn't just that he didn't want to make a mistake, he's been doing that all year, completely overthrowing his receiver on deep routes. However I wouldn't take anyone over AJ right now. He's completely unselfish, all he wants is to win an NC. He threw for 180-something yards against UF but looked liked the happiest player on the team post-game. He's played with these guys long enough, he knows the potential of the team, knows his role and embraces it. I'm surprised at how little he's tried to force things. I don't think he'll have to hit a deep pass for us to win it all this year. He's the perfect QB for this team.AJ can throw it-don't even worry about it. This was his first real test on the road and he did not want to make a mistake. With every game, every throw, his confidence grows. By the way Saban was yelling at him for his "swagger", I believe he has the heart, he has the arm, has the mind. And so far he's backed it up. I firmly believe Aj wants to WIN-that's what makes a great player. This is what a Saban coached player is now, when they buy in.
I agree 100 percent. I have seen a few things by A.J. that he probably wishes he could re-do, but I have been impressed with his poise, decision making, and arm strength to this point. I think he will be a qb that Tide fans talk about for years to come.Past Alabama "good game manager" QBs:
1. Pat Trammel
2. Jay Barker
3. Greg McElroy
4. AJ McCarron
Pretty good company, if you ask me.
Add Jeff Rutledge and Steadman Shealy to this list. AJ can add his name to this list as a National Champion "game manager" QB.Past Alabama "good game manager" QBs:

That and everyone wanted to play intramuralsColorado has very little support for their football program after all of the scandal. It would have been hard for almost anyone to go their and win. Remember how Hawkins had players parents calling him complaining that their kids were working to hard and had little time for fun.
Mamacalled,
I don't think it's just the scandal. It's (Boulder, Colorado) one of the MOST Liberal areas in the country East of Berkley, Cali. They would support socialism in sports, I'm sure. Everybody needs to be equal. There are some people that are just more equal than others. Take for example Julio, Joe Willie, Hightower, et al.
Hawkins could be a winning coach; however, he just ended up at the wrong school to win. He should never have left BSU or should have taken a job at a school that could win.
That is what everyone at CU was hoping also, but the more I see of Chris Petersen, the less I believe that...Hawkins made Boise what they are today.
I thought Houston Nutt made Boise State what it is today. :rolleye2:Hawkins made Boise what they are today.
I'm sure he would too. If AJ was say at Univ of Houston where Kennum is at now he would put up monster numbers, but when was the last time a Houston QB did anything in the NFL. Both Saban's QB's at Alabama are on NFL rosters being suppossed game managers in college. The NFL appreciates game managers more than most think. If AJ keeps developing he will be on a NFL roster one day also.Someone already stole my thunder, but the Cowboys, or Gamecocks would love to have our "game manager".
The reality is that the way we play, it is often more difficult on the QB than it seems. How many times did GMac HAVE to make a 3rd down throw, and he came through for us? The one indication you have that AJ is young is the number of times we throw on 1st down. When he's the man, his stats won't get better, we'll just end up only throwing when we have to.
There is a great NFL stats website, www.coldhardfootballfacts.com, that outlines what makes for success in QB play. Its not volume, but efficiency. AJ is very efficient by their standards. (BTW, based on their stats, Bart Star is the greatest QB in NFL history. They make a very compelling argument.)
I'm quite sure in a wide open offense, AJ would have monster stats.
Also, CNS responded to questions regarding the overthrows on deep balls. His comment indicated it wasn't all AJ. Sometimes the long ball needs to be on a line, if you are trying to beat the safety. As long as he continues to come through when we need him to (i.e. Fake FG at Ark) he's doing fine.
I think John Parker was cut by the falcons this year during camp.I'm sure he would too. Agreed...he's SOOO close. Just a LITTLE adjustment will do it... then, it's Katy Bar the Door and we run away this year...if he can improve some on that in the next four weeks...come time for LSU....i don't know how your gonna be able to stop bama. this team is just amazing.
