Really? I thought the Block in the back on Barron's INT was what took sure points off the board.
That too.

Let's not get battered-woman syndrome and blame ourself when we were obviously wronged.

Hope the team can put this devastating loss, as well as the injuries, as quickly as possible. We could be ripe for the picking against MSU otherwise. Still a TON to play for. An outside chance to get the BCSCG, and even the SECCG if Arky can give us a helping hand. Not over yet folks.....by a long shot.
LSU had to lose twice.

I thought AJ did fine tonight. He made some good decisions even when our receivers couldn't get open. I'd like to seem him stop floating the ball to the sidelines. It seems like it takes forever to get there. Other than that, I thought he played fine.

I think Saban was just scared of Aj having a Bret Favre moment at the end.

Re: ****Official Postgame Thread - Bama vs. LSU****

I have two questions, but before I ask them let me say that I love CNS and hope he stays at Bama until the day he dies...

1. When was the last time we beat a team with equal or better talent? It seems if we can't line up and brutalize teams with hat-on-a-hat direct runs with better players, we are in trouble. And it doesn't take a genius to pound teams with superior talent.

2. How come we can't get a difference maker at QB? For all of Saban's recruiting prowess, we have never had a top-notch guy at the most critical position on the field.

1. Because we are very conservative we are afraid of turnover from the Qb; do not trust his judgment/coaches think if we don't give it away we can win it; doesn't all asways work against an equal team.
2. We recruit the best out there; ones we have are high recruits with good skills; difference is who can make a play that changes the game; Lsu quarterback did that. I Lee stays in the game all game we will. Jeffereson help move the ball and we wore down our d.

Re: ****Official Postgame Thread - Bama vs. LSU****

I have to say Bama just got out-coached, out-manned, out-played, out-physicalled, and out-executed. Plenty of opportunities got away from us. LSU had fewer opportunities but took advantage of the few they had.

It was mostly a clean game and I don't think LSU is a dirty team, but the Dung Beetle (LSU's #7) made a very dirty play. Should have been ejected. Should be suspended by Miles and/or the SEC for the next game. Beyond a lack of discipline on that play. Just plain dirty.

Bama had several key injuries tonight and I hope we heal up well enough to finish the season strong. I don't like the taste of defeat and hope we don't have it for the rest of the season no matter what else happens.

Go Rebels, and Go Hogs.

Roll Tide Roll!

I would've gambled more on AJ making an explosive play in regulation than on our kickers hitting a field goal in OT, but of course I don't get paid to win games like this so I just don't know.

Re: ****Official Postgame Thread - Bama vs. LSU****

I do not think for one second that we need another coach, as some think we have slipped back to Shula years and others have lost their love of the coaches last year. We have a great coach. We have won every game in the SEC until this one, which happened to be the #1 team in the country. We were even until overtime.
I don't think anyone is saying we need a new coach. I hope CNS continues to coach here as long as he can, but that does not mean we have to look at everything through crimson colored glasses. There were some coaching decisions tonight that were very questionable IMO, and I thought it was a HUGE factor in the game.

Re: ****Official Postgame Thread - Bama vs. LSU****

I thought we ran two real trick plays the whole night. The little reverse in the first quarter when Richardson and I believe Maze tripped each other and then the wildcat pass. Both looked to be open, but in the end they didn't work for lack of execution. If you don't keep these great defenses honest then they drop the hammer on you. This was a great ballgame to watch. I am sick that we didn't win, but my gosh would you guys rather lose like Kansas State did 52-48 or something like that or 9-6? Both ways are hard to lose a game, but I will take this team and this coaching staff over any in this country! We have nothing to hang our heads about. Special teams are part of the game too. It is easy for us to sit here and type in our frustrations over this game and second guess our coaches and such. I guarantee you the coaches are second guessing a lot and so are the players, it is the nature of the game to do that after a tough loss. There is a reason we are on here and not on the sidelines. Nobody said winning a National Championship would be easy. Roll Tide!

Exactly my thoughts. We lost because we missed 3 field goals. Forget all the rest.
Well this comes as no surprise really. Our special teams have shown weaknesses all year long. I believe i posted a few games ago that we should have on campus tryouts for a kicker. Our defense was stellar as expected but all great games come down to special teams.

Love these kids and the effort but give lsu their due. Somebody on offense needed to make a play and it did not happen.

Re: ****Official Postgame Thread - Bama vs. LSU****

1. We did it just about every game in 08. Weve pretty much had the talent advantage since then.

2. Its AJs first season. Greg Mcelroy made a difference in more than a few games.
1. Yes, and 2008 was three years ago. We won the 2009 SECCG with coaching, but I think that's probably the last time we won a game vs. a team with equal or better talent.

2. McElroy's not a top-notch talent. He had his moments (2009 SECCG), but I am talking about a first round draft pick kind of talent that other top programs seem to get here and there. I talking about a Bradford, Tebow, Luck, McCoy type.

Re: ****Official Postgame Thread - Bama vs. LSU****

Nope... BSC standings would determine the SECCG West participant in the event of a 3-way tie.
I was about to post this. Yes, if Arky, Bama, and LSU all end the season with one loss, the team ranked highest in the BCS standings goes to Atlanta. Too tired and lazy to post a link right now, but it was on the SEC website a few weeks ago.

This scenario actually favors Bama. If LSU lost to Arky on the last weekend of the season, they would surely drop below Bama, which would have moved back to at least 3 or 4. I have no doubt we would remain ahead of Arky as well. It's a long shot, but it's all we've got right now.

Re: ****Official Postgame Thread - Bama vs. LSU****

LSU won, we lost. To arm-chair second guess all of the coaches is absurd and asinine. These are professionals with years and years of experience. We don't. and shoud not, know the true reasons why many of the decisions that were made tonight were made rather than alternative decisions, but to question our coaching staff??????? Based on......?????? Please.

We do not have first rate kickers and it, more or less, cost us the game. LSU is good but we also played well. LSU won, and we lost. I actually thought we were the better team but you cannot expect to beat quality opponents if, as coaches say, special teams are 1/3 of the equation. Since I'm convinced I don't know as much as the coaches about what they "should" have done, I'll settle for simply being dissapointed with the kicking team and the loss. Roll Tide....

The mods are in shock mode. I am just thankful a hoard of LSU fans have not over run the board. ;)
If they do, they'll get kicked off and the board will be closed to LSU posters. New registrations by LSU fans are already closed...
