I have no problem with anything he says in that video, and it boggles my mind how thin peoples skin can be when it comes to Alabama football.

In this video, Gary makes it VERY apparent that he doesn't like the fact that Alabama is likely going to play in the National Championship game, but acknowledges that they are the #2 team, and there is no rule against their playing, so they should.

But wow, I've never seen such blatant condescension from a professional...

He's got a lot of opinions for a sportscaster who doesn't understand why fans in the bleachers get quiet when their offense is on the field.

Let your mind be boggled. He's disrespecting a team that has gone 11-1 and only lost by 3 points in overtime to the undisputed #1 team in the country by basically saying that he thinks we've gotten in through a loophole.

But go on and be boggled.

The anti-Bama sentiments go way back to our years (decades) of dominance. When a dynasty is formed, you either love it or hate it - there aren't too many in-betweens. With our resurgence, it's us vs them. We love us and they hate us.

And I'm fine with that. :)

I'd be fine with it, too, if we weren't relying on their being fair to us with vote distribution in order for us to make it to New Orleans.

If we get in, it'll be through the normal process not a loophole.

My problems with GD in regards to the national championship are this:
1) "If LSU beats GA, they deserve something - the AP title." Why? Because they'll be required to beat Alabama twice???? Total nonsense. You see teams have to do this in other NCAA sports all the time. The Patriots and Giants did the same thing just a couple of years ago in the Super Bowl. Teams go undefeated all the time, only to lose in the championship game. It's why they play the game.
2) He was quoted in USA Today a few days ago as saying that LSU and Bama should have agreed before their 11/5 game that the loser would bow out of the National Championship race --- which I guess means they should have just quit playing. This is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard.

The guy is just running his mouth while using ZERO common sense (or else he has a serious bias towards Bama). Has nothing to do with my Bama skin.

And you are giving someone running their mouth while using ZERO common sense credence. I continue to be amazed at the amount of influence Gary Danielson is believed to have.

Remember Chris Schenkel? He was so good he made bowling interesting. The days os professional broadcasters are gone, full of wanta be's & never was.

Keith Jackson & Bob Gresie was the beat one two ever they like Chris had that College voice.

Danielson got put in his place by Payton Manning, this year so he can be taken down.

Verne, well Verne is just a drunk.

Not sure what you mean. Credence means giving someone/thing mental acceptance as real or true. I'm 100% sure that I disagree with his comments and believe them to be false and idiotic. Commenting on him and refuting his statements don't show any influence on his part, IMO.

Bad choice of words then.

But again: What influence do you think he has? Why waste the time and give him attention? Basically... why feed the troll?

My read of the video is that GD just does not want to see a rematch of a game played earlier in the season. If Oregon had won out, he wouldn't want to see that game in the BCSCG either. I don;t see anti-Alabama bias as much as anti-rematch bias.
Still, as GD said, it's the system we have in place, to pit #1 against #2. It's just unusual that they both come from the same division of the same conference.

On the flip side, here's another scenario relating to my opinion of Danielson's thoughts in general:

Gary: Excuse me, do you have the time?

Me: <crickets>

Yeah, thankfully Danielson doesn't have much influence in these matters. I think that's part of his problem, he knows his voice doesn't carry much weight.

Most every honest media member realizes that there is no team except Alabama that can challenge and beat LSU. And by the way, I'm getting tired of hearing that this is some sort of loophole created by the BCS. This has nothing to do with the BCS. Under any possible system out there, Alabama would be alive for the national championship. Under the old system, LSU would be going to the Sugar Bowl, and Alabama would likely be going to the Orange or Fiesta. Or the Sugar Bowl could even have elected to put Alabama against LSU in a rematch. Alabama would still be ranked #2 right now, without the BCS. The Sugar Bowl did this before, back in 1994 and 1996, putting Florida and Florida State against one another in rematches.

Or say we did have a playoff. Make it a 4 team, 8 team, or even 16 team playoff. Alabama would be in, and they'd be odds on favorites to make it to the championship game unless they were in LSU's side of the bracket. In either case we'd have, what? A rematch. This notion that this is a bad thing that the BCS has created is absurd. These are the two best teams in the country, by far, and they were going to have to go through one another more than once to win the championship, under any system.
