And in hindsight, all of those mixed signals that came out? I think it's pretty clear now where they were coming from, and it wasn't Landon...

Re: ***S Landon Collins commits to Bama II***

REMINDER:

We are NOT discussing his mother in any way. LSU fans have caused Collins to tweet about their "true colors"

after seeing mom's reaction, i'll believe he's coming to alabama when i see him suited up at practice. his mother was extrememly disappointed and from her demeanor and statements i doubt she'll cease working him to change his mind. right now i'd consider him a "soft" after seeing momma.
You must not have seen his tweet where he tweeted that, after reading the LSU fan tweets, he sees their true colors. As I said above, the only thing which keeps him away from Bama now is a breakup with his GF. You also may not have read my post that (IMO) the GF is at UA because he'd already decided to sign with UA and sent her there...

Re: ***S Landon Collins commits to Bama II***

im just glad the kid did what he thought was best for him, you could tell it was tough though..

Is he an EE or not? I've seen "yes" and "no" but does anybody know for sure???

I don't know for sure, but if he was going to be an EE, he would already be going thru the enrollment process for Spring semester 2012, so I doubt it. Deadlines are coming up pretty soon. Everyone who is worried about Landon having second thoughts would be put at ease if he enrolled for classes. I think we will see him in summer.

Anyway Awesome pickup. Even more awesome we pulled him out of LSU's backyard.

2003TIDE, your avatar makes me chuckle every time I see it...:)

Back on topic, I agree pulling him out of LSwho's backyard makes it even sweeter...:)

collins now knows he made the right decision. i think if we lost out on him the overall consensus would be one of disappointment, but not shocked or upset that he chose a school he lives 30 minutes from.

Landon lives about 1.5 hrs from Baton Rouge, in New Orleans. He's not a few minutes from campus as some think. This kid, in IMO is as solid to Bama as they come, so there won't be any switching. He is attending school where he's wanted to attend from day one. Roll Tide Landon!! :BigA:

Roll Tide

I watched intently as he made his commitment and was overyjoyed. Landon may end up being the best recruit in the best recruiting class ever. Lets get Feb 1 here and get his signature. Roll Tide Landon!!!

Here's the bottom line. He's going to be in the best situation to win a championship and he's going to be in the best position to have a good pro career. If anyone ever doubted Saban, look at Javy. Saban took an overlooked recruit (I know Shula signed him), who was nothing more than a specialist on special teams, and turned him into a NFL defensive back. This is a guy that was about to quit football altogether. If you're a defensive back, I can't imagine why you'd want to play for anyone else.

If anyone doesn't want him to play for Alabama, they do not have his best interests at heart.

I would not put it as the BEST, but would phrase it more as he is going into a GREAT situation.

LSU has put some dang good DB's in the league over the years and will be in the championship hunt over the next few years so he really could not have gone wrong either way IMO, excited he choose the good guys in the end for sure!

Welcome aboard Mr. Collins. With that, as I watched the game and his decision being made concerning his choice of schools, it struck me as he was making a point with something he said. When the stooge that was interviewing he and his family pointed out the fact that he, Collins, was from Louisiana, Landon kind of corrected him with “he was from New Orleans”. Just out of curiosity I was wondering if there is a little bit of a divide within the state that might make it easier for pulling kids out of the Big Easy and on to somewhere else other than Baton Rouge. Not easy by any means, but a little more doable. But anyhow, he and Cyrus capped a good evening off in fine fashion.

I do think it's clearly the best. Saban is the best person in all of college football at working with defensive backs. LSU wouldn't have been a bad situation, but in terms of how well he can do at the next level, there's no doubt that he made the right choice, and the same goes for NC's. Sure, LSU will be in the hunt, but going late into the season Alabama has been in the hunt every year since 2008.

It's like saying what do you want to make $40 an hour or $50 an hour. I'm not knocking 40 but clearly 50 is the best.
