And now we are expected to accept $5/gal gas and 8+ percent unemployment as being "good" and "normal".
Gas/oil will go up and gas/oil will go down but be prepared for the trend to be up, regardless of who is in the whitehouse or congress. With the increased demand from China and India, get used to it.

You make my point brilliantly.
Stop complaining, buy you a over-priced government vehicle, a $50 light bulb and a $6 gallon of milk and just get use to it. We'll just double foodstamp alotments for the month.

What's the over/under on the date Dims in Congress and the White House start chirping about investigating Big Oil for collusion and price gouging? We're do for another witch hunt. I say mid-summer.
Already calling for it. Repubs wont but the Dems are still complaining about it. I still want them to investigate them when the prices go down.

Why don't they ever want to investigate big education? I want to call for an investigation of big government.

1. Start a business
2. Hire employees (don't forget to be a gentle and benevolent boss and pay a good wage with good insurance)
3. Sell a product or service (if you build something you have to build it here)
4. Get back to us in 3 years and see if you have changed your mind
YES! YES! YES!

For those of us who have......

No, I don't believe any of these manufactured jobs number reports.

Yep. The repeal of GS was one of the biggest mistakes to ever come out of DC. Most, if not all, of our current problems can be tied back to that.
Artificially low interest rates and printing money hand over fist ain't helping either. I think there was a housing scam that dated all the way back to the 70's that became problematic as well. Writing checks the taxpayers couldn't cash...thanks Washington.

Look for your electric bills to go way up, the company I work for is shutting down 10 coal plants that Obama wanted to shut down, Natural gas is about to go sky high. The green energy is not even near what they think it is.

Green energy is a good idea but we as a nation cannot afford it. We have to get our spending in control and also increase technology in this area. Start drilling to keep the money in our nation will help with also making it a level playing field with other nations in trading goods. With coal being so bad for the earth why are we shutting it down in this nation and turning around and selling it to china which the worse pollution nation in the world. When they dirty the air where do you think it goes. This just goes to prove that it is all about perception not reality.

The question is where do you think Green energy comes from? Plug in cars? The eco-freaks seem to think that it is put into the wall by electricity fairies. Maybe they think it comes from a lightning bug farm. Oil, coal, gas, and nuclear are needed for all of it. I just can't see why the Pres. wouldn't want the jobs. It would be an immediate boost to the jobs numbers. Baffling.

Electric cars are only green in that they, themselves, do not burn fossil fuels (or burn much less, as with hybrids). There isn't much else "green" about them. This is what you get when you let politics interfere with science.

They are green in that they aren't powered by oil/gas and the pollution released is from a centralized point which is easier to mitigate.

I should also add that electric generation tends to be more efficient than the internal combustion engine.

There have been many studies that question any notion that these vehicles areactually any more green.

Also consider the cost to mine the elements used in the batteries, and the scarcity of many of those elements. This is not an answer to our problem - not even close. It is simply something that we are doing to make ourselves feel better.

As I see it the main problem with electric/hybrid cars is it discourages the car makers from making improvements to the internal combustion engine by lowering the manufacturers MPG fleet average to comply with CAFE.
