AND, he will be one of the top 2-3 in the country this year, too...barring injury (God forbid...)I honestly think he will be the best in the SEC this year. RTR
He's stated repeatedly that that is what he wants to do. It depends on how his year goes, IMO...He graduates in December, any chance he goes pro after this season?
When I watch AJ play, I see first round talent. The guy's a gamer with quick wits and an arm several notches above game manager status. He's going to be a very good NFL QB imo.He can "game manage" all the way to another national championship ring and a first round draft selection.
The average college football fan is ignorant. They've been raised in the video game era and use a measuring stick of how teams perform on a video game. That is why most fans outside the SEC don't even consider a defense as being a part of whether a team is good or not. They simply look at the offense. If the offense can put up 45+ a game and have video game like numbers then that team must be "good".
Hopefully AJ has been working on his deep ball accuracy because that is one area he needed to work on.I think we will see a more wide open AJ this year...he will be trusted to go deep more often.
I agree with you. However, prepare for attacks from a bunch of people who think he's only a mediocre game-manager. That is, unless they're hibernating until football season...When I watch AJ play, I see first round talent. The guy's a gamer with quick wits and an arm several notches above game manager status. I thought they all jumped out a window when Philip Sims transferred.I agree with you. However, prepare for attacks from a bunch of people who think he's only a mediocre game-manager. That is, unless they're hibernating until football season...![]()
 The detractors will be out in full force the first time he overthrows the sideline streak route over the WR's outside shoulder, not realizing that if you under throw that ball it's a turnover.I agree with you. Oh, I'm sure we still have some negaTiders (and some rival fans masquerading as such) still around...I thought they all jumped out a window when Philip Sims transferred.
All I've heard so far is that they're going to turn him loose this year and that CNS is the moving force behind that (as he was in the NCG). My only fear is Saban reining him in late in a game with an unsafe lead, because that's the tendency of a defensive coach... The detractors will be out in full force the first time he overthrows the sideline streak route over the WR's outside shoulder, not realizing that if you under throw that ball it's a turnover.
The only way you can label AJ a "game manager" is if you take into account how much emphasis was obviously put on taking care of the football by the coaching staff last season. With a once in a generation defense on the other side of the ball like last year, the only way most teams had a prayer of staying close would've been if we turned the ball over a bunch.
Opening up AJ's options and responsibilities will help his development and the program's ability to recruit blue chip QBs. If that article is any indication, it sounds like AJ's head is in the right place. All I've heard so far is that they're going to turn him loose this year and that CNS is the moving force behind that (as he was in the NCG).
That particular tendency just about cost us a few games in '09. Tennessee specifically springs to mind.My only fear is Saban reining him in late in a game with an unsafe lead, because that's the tendency of a defensive coach...
I wouldn't say the 2009 game was close because the offense slowed down the passing game. Didn't Greg throw 3 straight fades to Julio inside the 5? Also, that game isn't close if Mark doesn't have one of his three career fumbles. Plus, the team was very fatigued. That particular tendency just about cost us a few games in '09. I really don't think he's ready for the NFL yet. He's mighty good but still has a lot of room for development in my opinion especially in the area of reading defenses and picking up the second and third receiver if the primary's covered. He graduates in December, any chance he goes pro after this season?
