Johnny Manziel investigated by NCAA (will miss first half vs Rice)

Re: Johnny Manziel investigated by NCAA

I couldn't care less if he plays against us or not. I just want the 'w'. Would I like revenge? Sure. But not as bad as I'd like a win....with him in the game or not, I don't care.

Unless they have a video of Manziel holding three accepted forms of government identification, while signing the materials, then accepting the money and saying "I, Johnny Manziel, am giving you this signed memorabilia for five thousand dollars" ... nothing will happen.

Or just say I didn't know it was wrong. Boy a pit bull like Joe Schad on this story should make him nervous (sarcasam).

Just remember ESPN gave him the Heisman, think they knew something?

Re: Johnny Manziel investigated by NCAA

I can buy the idea that Manziel probably did this but with this new clawless NCAA I don't see this going very far. The Manziel's have the money to lawyer up on their own without TAMU's help. The NCAA doesn't want another Miami pie-to-the-face in the hope of catching a program or player stonewalling them. They'll let it go saying they can't find the money trail and failing to induce the memorabilia seller into speaking.

Re: Johnny Manziel investigated by NCAA

We have had way too many victories stripped and seasons ruined for far less.
I honestly hope they they throw the book at him and suspend the narcissistic little punk.

Makes the path to 14-0 that much easier.

Re: Johnny Manziel investigated by NCAA

Good luck with that...the next time the NCAA has some bite it will be when an Alabama player or coach does something ignorant.

Re: Johnny Manziel investigated by NCAA

I want to see Johnny Football playing on September 14 vs Bama. I suggest the Aggies and Johnny Football file a lawsuit against ESPN and the NCAA if anything happens. Make that a suit for $Billions$ or maybe even $Trillions$! Just the threat of a huge lawsuit will probably shut the NCAA up. There are enough Aggies with pockets deeper than the NCAA.

I don't like anyone violating NCAA rules but I'm still irritated with the NCAA and Phat Fulmer's and Kramer's SEC for what they did to Bama in the 1990's and early 2000's.

Hopefully, that will bring an end to the NCAA. We need an organization with rules that are not as thick as the IRS regulations. Rules that are easy to understand and comply with. Not rules that say "gottcha"! I think Bama tried to handle things in an honorable way only to later find that we were staring down the barrel of a cannon.

Make it for $eleventy bazillion...JFF will be retired from the NFL before the NCAA figures out how much that is... :biggrin2:

Re: Johnny Manziel investigated by NCAA

How dumb can Johnny be? Doesn't he know that they are watching his every move? I still think that even if he did it, he won't get in trouble, just reference the $Cam Newton incident. I'm like the rest of you guys, just tired of hearing about him every day.

I know.
But the NCAA has been royally embarrassed by the Miami fiasco.
And everybody outside Lee County knows Auburn paid for Newton.

The NCAA is going to want to prove they still have teeth. This is perfect timing.

May be dumb...like a fox.
Let's see...sell memorabilia, get ruled ineligible by the NCAA, get in the NFL, get out of College Station. Terrelle Pryor Part II. Not sure of the NFL rules, since there's already been a draft and supplemental draft for this year, if declared ineligible by the NZAA would JM be a free agent or have to wait till next years draft? Just curious. ;)

And have his Grandmother there to identify him as well.;)

Re: Johnny Manziel investigated by NCAA

My thoughts...

I don't care if he gets suspended, nor if he plays again for A&M IF he's guilty. I'm sorry, I lost my ability to care what happens to other schools when I saw the reaction most had when we had our problems. The game won't suffer if Johnny doesn't play... there have been thousands before him, and there will be thousands after him (until the Supreme Court rules football to be unconstitutional because of head injuries but I digress). I want to beat Texas A&M because Texas A&M beat us last year - not Johnny.

Second thought is this. While I don't care whether he plays or not if he broke the rules, I DO however feel these rules are stupid. His likeness, his signature, his popularity. He ought to be able to profit off of it. JMO.

Final thought: I predict he plays. Or at worst, he misses the first 2 games.

Re: Johnny Manziel investigated by NCAA

If that report is true and stuff is turning up numbered and in sequence, it will be pretty hard to toss it off as JF just doing a few friends a few favors. That's IF the signatures are properly authenticated. It falls under the category of business in that case and it's kinda hard to play dumb if you've sat down and signed hundreds or thousands of something in an assembly line fashion.

I want him to play myself, I don't want to hear anymore of "Oh if only Colt had played."

I think the 2013 Tide is gonna be pretty special and I don't want there to be any doubts about that.

At the most...

Tommy, it makes no difference to me whether he plays or not. Part of being a great football team is knowing how to behave. It's just another blown assignment.
