Can someone explain the sideline catch when aTm's receiver was out of bounds?
I truly do not understand what happened, or why that was a legitimate reception.

The receiver was pushed out of bounds by the DB. That means he could come back in and be the first person to touch the ball. If he had run out of bounds on his own, it would have been a penalty for him to touch the ball first.

They said he was forced out by the Bama defender, so he is still an eligible receiver.

Rule is if you are pushed out by the defense you can come back into the field of play and be an eligible receiver. The official ruled (probably right this time) that Fulton pushed him out of bounds and, therefore, he could come back in bounds for the reception.

The ruling was that the defender forced him out of bounds, so he could come back in. If I'm not mistaken, that's different from the NFL, where IIRC you are out of the play if you are forced out of bounds.

Yea, Manziel's playing reminded me of the 2010 South Carolina game. He could do no wrong. I'm very proud of our guys.RTR! We're going to be alright the rest of the way. Great game for AJ.
My thoughts exactly! I've never seen anything like this guy. For him to escape Pagan and throw the Hail Mary for a completion is just without explanation.

RTR!!!

What is pitiful is that they can overrule the ejection for targeting, but not the yards penalized. That is the worst call I have seen in a while.
Sounds like your beef is with the rule more than the call. It was a bad call, but it was also a bang-bang play so I can live with it. It would have been ridiculous had he been ejected.

I really think AJ should be at the top of the Heisman conversation.
JM was elevated to that position because of his game against us.
Seems like the same logic should apply.

Not to belabor the point on the out-of-bounds catch, but, it has been my understanding that if pushed out of bounds you can indeed come back into the field of play, however, I also thought that you had to re-establish yourself in the field of play before you could make the catch. I do not think the aTm player accomplished that. Even though he didn't touch the ball with his feet out of bounds, I don't believe he had gotten his feet back in bounds before the catch. Of course, I could be wrong on all points. ;)

the receiver can go out of bounds if he is forced out by the DB. I thought the refs made the right call on that one.

We can hope Shaw makes them have some uncomfortable moments on their tape review/meeting, when they're all graded...
I'm curious on what they saw while back at the hotel reviewing the tape. I saw so many holdings not called giving Johnny ample time to scramble and make big plays. I am so glad that our guys out scored them.

Here's the thing about the out of bounds reception: they completely blew the call...PERIOD. Bottom line, Fulton played great defense on that play and certainly didn't force him out of bounds. The worst part is the receiver was clearly out of bounds when he made the catch anyway. Thomas Ritter's crew needs to be suspended and I'm not kidding. The refs simply cannot be allowed to dictate how the game ends. They gifted them that touchdown.

They got 620 yards, yet....

The horse collar / non face mask call gave them more yards
Yeldon may have scored on previous play, at worst it was a foot away not a yard plus, that gave them more yards.

If you took away half the crap calls, it's 56-28
