The receiver was pushed out of bounds by the DB. That means he could come back in and be the first person to touch the ball. If he had run out of bounds on his own, it would have been a penalty for him to touch the ball first. Can someone explain the sideline catch when aTm's receiver was out of bounds?
I truly do not understand what happened, or why that was a legitimate reception.
The defender caused him to go out of bounds thus making him eligible to catch the ball. Can someone explain the sideline catch when aTm's receiver was out of bounds?

They said he was forced out by the Bama defender, so he is still an eligible receiver. Can someone explain the sideline catch when aTm's receiver was out of bounds?

Rule is if you are pushed out by the defense you can come back into the field of play and be an eligible receiver. The official ruled (probably right this time) that Fulton pushed him out of bounds and, therefore, he could come back in bounds for the reception. Can someone explain the sideline catch when aTm's receiver was out of bounds?

The ruling was that the defender forced him out of bounds, so he could come back in. If I'm not mistaken, that's different from the NFL, where IIRC you are out of the play if you are forced out of bounds. Can someone explain the sideline catch when aTm's receiver was out of bounds?

My thoughts exactly! I've never seen anything like this guy. For him to escape Pagan and throw the Hail Mary for a completion is just without explanation.Yea, Manziel's playing reminded me of the 2010 South Carolina game. He could do no wrong. I'm very proud of our guys.RTR! We're going to be alright the rest of the way. Great game for AJ.
Sounds like your beef is with the rule more than the call. It was a bad call, but it was also a bang-bang play so I can live with it. It would have been ridiculous had he been ejected. What is pitiful is that they can overrule the ejection for targeting, but not the yards penalized. That is the worst call I have seen in a while.
the receiver can go out of bounds if he is forced out by the DB. I thought the refs made the right call on that one.Can someone explain the sideline catch when aTm's receiver was out of bounds?

I wondered about that part. Good picture.![]()
The problem wasn't the call by the official. Rather it was that as he caught the ball with a foot out of bounds.
I'm curious on what they saw while back at the hotel reviewing the tape. I saw so many holdings not called giving Johnny ample time to scramble and make big plays. I am so glad that our guys out scored them.We can hope Shaw makes them have some uncomfortable moments on their tape review/meeting, when they're all graded...
There were times he was in position but a perfectly thrown ball to a 6'5" WR is just too much to ask.Fulton is really glad this game is over.
