Re: Assistant Strength/Conditioning Coach Placed on Leave

Looks like a few games for Clinton-Dix then and Harris is probably going to be FIRED as he should be. Looks like Clinton-Dix might be let off though since it was paid back, or would he have to pay $500 back in the eyes of the NZAA as well to be clear?
As he can provide bank records showing he paid it back, *typically* the NCAA will let it slide.

If I read the article correctly,he paid it back & it appears he has cooperated. I sure hope some mercy can be shown here.

Re: Assistant Strength/Conditioning Coach Placed on Leave

To be precise, it was less than $500 according to the article.

Stupid move by the coach. Really stupid. I can't imagine this means anything as far as HaHa's eligibility goes - they'll clear it up and he'll be back to play. The coach could have literally loaned him $30 for gas and it would be a violation even if he paid it back the next day.

No worries.

Anyone wanting to know how difficult of a time coaches have in monitoring agents/runners on players: look at the article. The assistant strength coach has connections to an agent. What is Saban supposed to do?

Yes, thankfully it was small (less than $500), and he has turned over records showing it was paid back, we should be fine here and he'll sit probably 2-3 weeks.

But, that coach won't be coaching.....

How is it possible that we have someone on our staff dumb enough to do this? I mean... I'm dumbfounded.

Re: Ha Ha Clinton Dix suspended for violation of team rules, Saban says

No, it's not a good thing. I can almost guarantee you that at some point during his 2 1/2 years on campus he has been told specifically not to do whatever it is he did. I don't see how you can spin this into something good. It's not the end of the world but it is far from good...
I dont mean having to suspend players any time is good, but, having a coach willing to suspend a player to maintain that discipline is definitly, good.

With his connection to an agent, I am hoping Harris did not make loans to other players.

I hope this is a one-off because I imagine HaHa might be reinstated if they show he repaid the debt but Harris is probably losing his job.

Or given him a ride across campus in a golf cart!

This is the best case scenario. I am so tired of all this stuff. It is almost like you have to hire "shadow" for all these players.

Then you have to make sure the "shadow" follows the rules...too. Never ending.

then you have a huge staff, that you have to keep an eye on. Crazy.

I do too. I believe if this is how it went down and it was paid back the NZAA will be cool with it but Coach Saban is not going to be happy with a high profile, upper classman doing something he knows was not right. He may go the 2-3 game route on the suspension.

Re: Assistant Strength/Conditioning Coach Placed on Leave

The standard course of action would now be that Alabama would declare the player ineligible, then the NCAA would hand down a penalty (usually a suspension for a few games) then the player can get back on the field.

Sounds like a stupid mistake, certainly not something that the fans should kill the player over. As for the assistant, I don't know anything about him. I am hesitant to just say that he should be fired over this mistake without knowing him or the details. Saban has all of the facts by now and is in the best position to decide. I would not assume that this guy is a cancer, loaning money all over the place, acting for an agent.
