Question: Why does awbarn think we don't have a chance?

You can't be rational with barners. I was having a discussion with a co-worker (LSU fan) about how pitiful it was that we sacked ZM 4 times in a row at the end of that game. A barner was on the elevator with us and when I stated I had never seen a QB sacked 4 times in a row, with a giggle he brings up Brodie Croyle.

After the jawja game my analogy of barners at this point: they are like a pack of excited cocker spaniels. If any of you have ever had cockers you know that when they get excited they pee all over themselves....

We turned the ball over 4 times against MSU and arguably played our worse game of the year and they never really threatened us. The barn had to score with 10 seconds to beat them...although I fully expect them to come out fired up and throw the kitchen sink at us and it wouldn't surprise me if we got down a score or 2 early...but I'm confident in the end result. First I live in Lee County and my wife works in Opelika very near the awbarn campus. I went to her work and watched the awbarn vs Georgia game. I had on my BAMA shirt waiting for the BAMA Ms. St. game to come on.... As the barn fans were filing out of the establishment they looked at me and said we are going to kill y'all ( BAMA). Why? Why do they think BAMA is a team that doesn't know how to play football? I look at them and laugh. My personal opinion is BAMA is basically 100%. Georgia wasn't a team not totally healthy but gave awbarn all they could handle. I think BAMA by at least by 17.... honestly 21+..... Your opinions?

I live in Lee County also and its funny and sad at the same time that a lot of them are just now showing support for their team again. Until now a lot of them around here have talked about how unimportant football is...but 1 lucky play later and its back to being important. (not all of them mind you but quit a few);)

This time of the year, Auburn is tired. Mentally and physically. Alabama is not. They're still fresh somewhat. I think at this time of the year, we pretty much have everyone almost 100 percent healthy due to the schedule we've had. We had two big tough games against Texas A and M, LSU. Miss state counts, if you will. Auburn had to play lot of games with their starters from 1-4 quarters. I think fatigue will play a role in 3rd and 4th quarter. No way auburn can keep up with us.. not physically.

Simply put, the barn cannot beat us straight up in a well-played game--and I think their coaches know that. There is simply too much disparity in talent between the two on the field of play. The way that I see it, the only scenarios that give them a win would involve a lot of mistakes by our guys and/or several trick/gadget plays that work to perfection, maybe mixed in with some bad calls by the officials. Yes, it COULD happen, but the odds are heavily against it. Just look at the history of the series--the better team usually almost always wins this game, regardless of where it is played. And everyone knows who the better team is.

He would have to improve about 2 orders of magnitude to be that good.

He used to be a writer here, so we know all about him. Always was, and always will be, a schmuck.

They don't have a chance. We'll score at least 40. They'll score some, but no more than 20. Barring any extreme turnover/big play/special teams outcome. Bama's just a lot better than they are. Won't be 49-0 like last year though. But still a 20 pointish win.

Well.. it would be GREAT to come out with the win, but let's just say that we don't match up well against you. Not that it is impossible to win, but improbable. Anyone thinking we can run through the tackles against your defense is smoking crack. Marshall will have to throw the ball with high accuracy for us to have a shot, in my opinion. Also, we will need some turnovers and some three and outs from you guys. If we play a great game and can pass -- and run to the edges.. and get some stops... and some turnovers... yeah -- we could do this. :)

the fact is that you guys are very, very good. We have over-achieved this year. Hopefully we can over-achieve again...
If you'll look at the Youtube video referenced elsewhere on the front page, you'll see that he said essentially that, back when he was OC there. He said you have to attack the edges with misdirection. I tend to think we'll have someone there waiting. I expect a similar type of defense as against MSU. At the half, he told the corners that he was putting them on an island and everyone else would be in run support. Until your QB shows he can really hurt us by throwing, I think that's what you'll see. I think you'll see our corners knock the ball down, if they can't intercept... :D

Plenty of a Auburn fans think Bama has a chance. Blanket statements like the thread title look ignorant.

JHS will be as jacked as ever. Biggest IB in a generation. It will NOT be easy.
This game is going to be awesome! Would love to hand them the same whoopin they got last year!

No one expected AU to be 10-1, they are excited and I get that. It has just ramped up so much since the UGA win, even some of the media is jumping on board. Lets go back a week, AU was 9-1, ranked #7 in the BCS. UGA was ranked # 25 and was 6-3, AU should have won the game. Which they did on a miracle play thanks to the UGA...not taking anything away from an exciting ending, but it was barely won.

I said in another post, I'm not buying all the talk about AU playing with 'house money' and not having anything to lose. They have everything to lose....SECw champs, a trip to the SECCG, a BCS bowl bid, and not to mention, derailing their in state rival's chance at a three-peat. I think this pressure also plays in our favor, because I think it makes AU have to play more conservative. Yes I'm sure there will be a trick play or two, and a maybe a couple of things they've been saving for the IB, but I don't think there will be as much trickery as some expect.

Bama is number 1 for a reason, I don't think this game is going to be as close or competitive as some think. I know the prediction thread won't start until after the UTC game, but I'm going to go ahead and throw mine out there.....I say the Tide Rolls and wins 34 to 17.

ROLL TIDE,
Jason
