I have no skin in this game - what happens with FSU has no bearing on OSU's BCSCG hopes. Here's what we now know:

Meggs said that she did not know him - so that is a fact. Better than 98% of rape cases reported in which the victim does not know the attacker are legit, so this is HUGE and almost impossible to overcome.

She had sex with her boyfriend that evening before she went out and was raped - not a stranger. Not sure what that makes her, as she never lied to the police about it, she just refused to volunteer his name. So the second set of DNA is meaningless in this case, but Meggs made it out to be some sort of a problem for him in prosecution. No idea why.

She was drinking, but she was not absurdly drunk and they found no other drugs in her system. What conclusions do we draw from that? Part of her story was that she was too drunk to remember where is apartment was. Not hard to believe if she was just raped her memory might have been effected, even if she was not totally drunk. Meggs turned this into another problem with prosecution. He was blaming her for her poor memory, and saw no reason for it (his words). How about being raped?

Finally, Meggs said that there were no inconsistencies in the girl's story - just memory lapses. Anyone who has performed any sort of investigation understands that liars are easily caught by their story inconsistencies. Her story remained the same, even when retelling it 11 months later. That is pretty damning, too.

I do not see how anyone could see all of this and choose not to put this in front of a jury. I feel horrible for this girl. As of right now, given the information available, as far as I am concerned Winston is a rapist.

One way or another, a crime happened. At least one of the following, all of which I consider to be significant.
1. A rape.
2. A false-accusation of rape.
3. A cover-up.

Puking in mouth listening to the adulation on espn of Winston.

I still have not turned ESPN back on since the Saturday night. I just can't do it. Now I have another reason to tune out until Saturday.

I think I'm done watching any type of sports shows until Bama plays it's bowl game. I just don't want to here the sports world praise this kid. If I was the girl's father, they'd have to put me in jail to protect Mr. Winston.

Any one of us on this board would have been charged, arrested and may have already had our trial, months ago. That's the problem and why there is outrage here, justice was ignored to save a football season. I would have no problems if he was tried and found innocent, that would have been justice.

Read the report and saw that Chris Casher was present at the time of the event and even looking on and cracking jokes. We dodged that bullet as well.

Well, we all know that women who have sex are sluts (don't even want to use a blue font, not trying to lighten things at all, note obvious sarcasm) and any woman who had sex can't be raped.

I have to really look into the details, but this whole thing is disgusting and I knew the angle they were taking when he said he had to talk to more people. They had a victim, they had DNA, they had her testimony that it happened, and if that wasn't enough, all they were doing was trying to poke holes in her story.

Essentially, she was put on trial here, which to reiterate is a travesty of justice. At this point the only conclusion is that the police didn't want to treat Winston like the alleged rapist that he is. Beyond that? I don't know because they did such a poor job, and acted with such bias that even if he is absolutely innocent, they got in the way of that being proved as well.

Absolutely not. I have a daughter who is a student at UA now. I'd have the same opinion if he were AJ McCarron and it were my daughter. I realize you feel that you know him, but we all know a 19 year old kid thinks with his nether regions and not his brain when put in a situation like this. Not all people are what they appear to be.

Not surprised in the least that this matter will not go forward. Whatever the truth of the matter, the levity in which this AG's statement was received is appalling. Perhaps if there was a REAL investigation in a timely manner by Tampa PD, the same conclusion would have been more acceptable. No active investigation was made until after the charge found its way into the media. Reportedly a TPD officer told her that charging a player like Winston would not be received well in the community as they are all FSU fans. Don't know the veracity of that.

He knows the family personally. I can understand where he is coming from. Unless he hears an admission of guilt or see something akin to video of the crime, he is going to support his friend. He is in a tough spot, but I admire his loyalty, even if I find it misguided.

I don't think anybody is questioning his loyalty to Winston or the Winston famliy. I think there were a number of people who didn't appreciate being accused of wanting Winston to be charged because they didn't like the fact that he chose not to come to Bama. I don't think anybody really cares if Mamacalled has a different opinion. Most just don't like the ridiculous accusation that, if they have a different opinion from Mamacalled, it's because of something as petty as Winston not wearing crimson.
