Re: Replacement Offensive Coordinator

no...not a baylor guy at all...but i do believe Art Briles is innocent. baylor and local law enforcement on the other hand...i think are the guilty ones.
Do you have any proof of this at all? Or are you just spewing ignorance?

Nussmeier, no... but I would take a clone of McElwain yesterday.

Kingsbury. We would go from Tosh to Ryan Gosling on the sidelines, nice upgrade.

Re: Replacement Offensive Coordinator

On the Art Briles talk - To be fair, Saban is known for bringing in ex-Coaches that carry baggage and rehabbing them so to speak. Whether or not Saban wants that type of controversy around the program is another story. But fact is and everything else aside, Briles can coach and hes a good offensive mind and he knows the Texas recruiting landscape better then anyone. I mean, if you can win at Baylor of all places, you have to be a good coach.

Am I against bringing in Art Briles as OC? Yes and No. If Saban brought him in, I'd trust Saban's judgement and the process. Either way, I don't care what happens with Briles, but I figured i'd throw my 2 cents in since he was mentioned.

As far as the allegations go. You have two camps. People who think that hes the devil and then a lot of people who think hes innocent and was ultimately the fall guy. You even have people within the Baylor program and faculty itself that think hes innocent.

I live 20 minutes from Waco Texas. So I tend to hear about that situation more then most.

Kingsbury.

Kingsbury runs that Air-Raid offense. I'm not so sure I'd want that type of offense here where we are throwing the ball 60-70 times a game.

Re: Replacement Offensive Coordinator

Just say no to Briles, makes no sense considering what he's bee accused of. Innocent or not, I don't want him anywhere near Tuscaloosa.

Saban isn't perfect, y'all - he's given second chances before that made us look bad. I get what he's trying to accomplish, but Bama doesn't need these people - they need Bama.

So while I don't think there's any chance Saban would pursue Briles, I can say here I would not support that hire at all, as even if he's innocent it would make the University of Alabama look awful.

I don't understand why so many people are quick to judge Art Briles. The whole story isn't even out yet. Its a lot of anecdotal evidence against him. If hes proven to be guilty, I'll be the first to chastise him. But really - *What if* hes actually innocent? Its a possibility, you know.

There is a difference between partying, alcoholism, sleeping around, or just being a generally abrasive butthole and establishing a system for protecting athletes from sexual abuse charges. Saban has given second chances but they've mostly been character deficiencies that are correctable not outright depravity.

I'm not a court of law. I don't have to consider him innocent and neither does Saban. Anybody who thinks about the Baylor situation for just a minute realizes that Baylor would've railroaded anyone in that AD complex over Briles if they could've but clearly Briles incriminated himself too much for them to pull that feat off.

But where is the actual proof that Art Briles is guilty? Hearsay don't count.

What happened at Baylor is a travesty. Its sad and it shouldn't have happened. But a lot of people surrounding that program are innocent. Just because something awful happened at your workplace, doesn't necessarily mean that everyone there is guilty. Unless you're one of those guilt by association types of people. "He was around the place, so he must be involved too"

Then he can be innocent at someone else's program, not Bama's. Even if "innocent" the media storm that would come with him would be unbearable. Not worth it. We've won 4 NC's without him.

Re: Replacement Offensive Coordinator

My brother in law is a former player at TT and still very close to the program. You are correct, 2017 is a make or break year for him and he's been told that explicitly.
I think he's a good coach, but just got overwhelmed probably like Kiffin. I wouldn't be shocked if he came to Bama next year if it doesn't work out.

Public opinion matters.

If he's innocent, hopefully he can prove it and get another chance. Until then, he's toxic.

One or two anecdotal stories, and I can give a little benefit of the doubt. This many stories? We're starting to see a pattern.
