Re: Replacement Offensive Coordinator

Just because people say they think something will happen doesn't mean it will. Nothing that was said or speculated was wrong. Saban just made his choice. Did the same thing with CLK last year even though originally he wasn't going to be retained. That didn't make anyone's info then wrong either. Just because some have more access than most doesn't mean they channel Saban's frontal cortex and they never claim such. That said, this is one the best sites with the most informed Bama illuminati there is. They're great and I'll take their thoughts on things any day of the week and twice on Sunday. Roll Tide!

Good post. Saban has made his choice and we all need to swing behind him and support his choice, no matter what we may have heard leading up to his decision. Sarkisian is now our new OC and I wish him all of the success in the world, because his success is our success. To that end, this thread will not be allowed to morph into a moan and complain thread to rehash past posts. Those are the deletions you see. If the same posters continue to repost then there will be consequences. Let's confine remarks to Sark's coaching and our future with him...

So is CSS likely a two year commitment then see what happens kinda like CLK?
It's sort of the norm that assistants have a one-year contract and coordinators have a two-year. That can be varied or conditioned in many ways and it's not universally followed...

Re: Replacement Offensive Coordinator

Sarkisian is a great hire if you look at his accomplishes on the field until his tenure at USC went sideways. Sark was the full OC for a few years after Kiffin went to the Raiders. His USC offense was still prolific. He helped drag Washington out of an absolute dump. Slowly building them up from the infamous crApple Cup season the year prior (0-12 season) to 8-4 by the time he left. His first year at USC wasn't that bad considering that they weren't quite 100% over the effects of sanctions yet. He'd still be coaching there right now and doing well if his personal life didn't go off the rails for a bit.

Considering that we sit on a talent pool comparable to his years as Co-OC and OC at USC, I think we can expect this to go well if Sarkisian stays well.

This has got to be a shot in the arm for a cali kid like Najee Harris, too. Not that he isn't solid to Bama, he appears that way.

CrApple Cup. LOL, I love that. I agree on the rest of the post as well.

I have my concerns about this due to his alcoholism. But he is clearly a very good coach. I just hope he can beat the bottle.

..."Galu Tagovailoa said. “If things happen where Lane moves on and Sarkisian is the guy, then that would be great. But at the same time, whoever is the next offensive coordinator if Lane leaves, it wouldn’t matter. Saban has won championships with multiple different coordinators. He’ll bring the best out of them no matter what.”
In case you missed it, Tagovailoa’s father re-confirmed with SEC country on Thursday that his son’s recruitment is over. Despite his recent offer from LSU, he will not visit the school and will enroll at Alabama in January."

Still don't see anything whatsoever that suggests he was thinking of not coming to Alabama.
I think it was a chance for them to get reacquainted and talk a little football, nothing more.

Some where out there
But but but, I read so many Insiders on other boards saying thatSarkisian was having problems, would not be under consideration in any fashion, excetera excetera excetera

Will you go under Nick Saban, there really are no insiders anymore because nothing leaks
Earle just explained this and posted a detailed post about rehashing these kind of things. It was just on the last page. As stated earlier, is it not time to move forward because it appears everyone else has.

Now that Sark has been named OC, do you think that he will take over the play calling in the Championship game should we beat Washington?

I love the hire by the way! An idle mind is the devil's playground and I am sure that his mind and body will be working overtime under Coach's all seeing eyes.

RTR!!!!

It's Coach Kiffin all the way through.
