Well, Sark flew out to Hawaii earlier this week to close the deal with Tua. Draw from that what you will... :D
Well I heard he left town last week. I an guessing now that may have been where he went.

Tua committed in May and has been a solid commit the whole time. Sark wasn't even hired as an analyst until September.
Where does the notion that making Sark OC was key to getting Tua come from?

*(if that's what you're suggesting)
I'm not suggesting anything. I posted a link to a news story. Read it. It wasn't key to getting him, but there's a possibility that it may have been key, to "keeping" him.

Re: Replacement Offensive Coordinator

It's funny going back in this thread and seeing experts claim Sark had no shot based on "inside" info.
To be fair, there were two adamant camps and I don't think those who didn't think it was going to happen were operating on outright fictitious information. I think the circumstances just changed and Saban felt comfortable with the significant promotion.

I did read it. I didn't see any statements that suggests he was thinking of going somewhere else since he committed.

He confirmed he was enrolling early back in October and said this when Kiffin was rumored to be leaving:
"Tagovailoa verbally committed to Alabama May 2. He said he plans to officially visit Alabama December 9.

The early enrollee said he mostly talks to his recruiter of record, Tosh Lupoi, and head coach Nick Saban for Alabama.

He said he doesn’t communicate much with Alabama offensive coordinator Lane Kiffin.

Kiffin is rumored to potentially be heading to LSU in the same role for new Tigers coach Ed Orgeron, who offered Tagovailoa Monday evening.

“That was a blessing to get that offer,” Tagovailoa said. “I’m not sure if I’ll be able to visit there. That’s something I’ll have to talk over with my family. Any offer is a blessing.”

Tagovailoa said Kiffin’s status ‘doesn’t matter’ as he’s solid with Alabama. He’s excited to be part of the nation’s elite recruiting class.

“It’s No. 1,” Tagovailoa said. “I can’t wait to compete against the best. That’s how you get better.”

I only read about recruiting on Tidefans so I thought I must have missed something from inside sources.

All is good though. I'm glad to have Tua and Sark.

We will get a continuation of what we're doing from what I saw of USC under Sark. Pro-style with spread option concepts mixed into offense. He's been doing working under Kiffin for the past season, he'll already have some of the wrinkles Kiffin has added in on top of that in mind.

Re: Replacement Offensive Coordinator

Sark has a brilliant offensive mind and I'm excited to see what he can do here with all our talent and depth. The Tide will keep on rolling.

..."Galu Tagovailoa said. “If things happen where Lane moves on and Sarkisian is the guy, then that would be great. But at the same time, whoever is the next offensive coordinator if Lane leaves, it wouldn’t matter. Saban has won championships with multiple different coordinators. He’ll bring the best out of them no matter what.”
In case you missed it, Tagovailoa’s father re-confirmed with SEC country on Thursday that his son’s recruitment is over. Despite his recent offer from LSU, he will not visit the school and will enroll at Alabama in January."

Still don't see anything whatsoever that suggests he was thinking of not coming to Alabama.

Without question at all. Homer was the definition of offensive genius. Brilliant, brilliant coach. Coach Stallings wouldn't take the cuffs off and I, like you, truly believe that it cost us the national title in 1994. Still hurts that a one point loss to Florida in the SEC Championship Game did us in when we had the offensive potential to run them out of the Georgia Dome.
Many years ago I wore out my AIR HOMER Alabama T-shirt. He was great.

Don't think so either. However, his sending Sark out certainly indicated what his thinking was about Sark, which was a change in a week. I'll repeat that I have as much confidence in Saban as anyone on earth to be able to manage Sark. He managed Kiffin. That's enough for me, if he wanted to go in this direction...
Could also be saying to Sark "I trust you" if he's letting him go that far to see one of our top recruits. Could not be a better situation for both Bama and Sark. Hopefully he'll take full advantage of the opportunity. I believe he could be better too truth be known.

Just because people say they think something will happen doesn't mean it will. Nothing that was said or speculated was wrong. Saban just made his choice. Did the same thing with CLK last year even though originally he wasn't going to be retained. That didn't make anyone's info then wrong either. Just because some have more access than most doesn't mean they channel Saban's frontal cortex and they never claim such. That said, this is one the best sites with the most informed Bama illuminati there is. They're great and I'll take their thoughts on things any day of the week and twice on Sunday. Roll Tide!

Been on the road most of the day traveling for the first of two weekends of family Christmas, so I haven't gotten to comment on the hiring. A few things I want to say while I have a minute.

First, congrats to Coach Sark. He was brought in just for this reason, just as Lane was several years ago before the bowl (Sarkisian has just been around longer). I think he can do well here, and his philosophy will be beneficial to the offense.

Second, I know some are wondering why the sudden change of story. I can confirm, as Earle has been saying, that there were some things working against Sarkisian becoming OC. I won't get in to what, as even though some KNOW what happened it will always just be rumor.

What I can tell you is this. He REALLY wanted the job as OC (who wouldn't), and with the job came a commitment to the process on all levels. As someone else said, he couldn't have a better place to rehab his image...the structure Coach Saban provides is second to none (aside from possibly Belichek).

I'm pretty stoked about this myself. I personally think his mind offensively is top notch, but he doesn't OVER think things.

If you want to make a comparison it's the equivalent of changing from Kirby to Pruitt. We will cut out a bit of the fat, simplify a few things, and likely be better for it.

Sark is set for success. Great QB. Great RBs. Great Receivers, and a Great line to protect them.
Plus... We are on the way to another #1 Recruiting class. Sark is already familiar with our playbook, our players, our other Coaches, plus Coach Saban's philosophy etc... Learning curve is not significant... :)

We have the players to contend again next year. We will need to continue development of Hurts, and develop incoming Freshmen Qbs and Rbs... so it looks like Sark will have the right material to win. I wish him success.
