I was hoping he would land with the Cardinals. It doesnt matter where he lands. He will not be signed as the starter. He'll have to compete no matter where he goes. But, he would at least be given fair shot which is more than he's getting in Cincy.

Re: AJ McCarron Wins Grievance Against Bengals and Will Become Free Agent

The problem is that there are so many qbs with so much more time starting out there in free agency. Not to mention the fact that the SB MVP is on the trade block still. Again I said this before, and so many of you were so sure that it was a bad idea and not in the realm of possibility, but maybe his best choice is to sit behind Manning, Brees, Brady, Rivers, or Roethlisberger for a few years. Because it looks like the Cards and the Bills are his last 2 known shots left and we still haven’t heard from Bradford or Foles yet.

Bills reportedly intrested in Bradford

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.ya...appear-interested-sam-bradford-125117242.html

Bradford still has a physical to pass by Bills team docs. So unless there is any sudden movement it might be safe to say Bradford is their #1 pick right now.

Unless either the Cards or Bills change the narrative of what’s being reported then it seems AJ is a backup again in 2018. His best shot was to be a bridge qb IMO but I think there is truth of him asking for too much. So if he is going to be a backup (still anything can happen with Cards, Bills, and other suprises) then he might as well do it at an 04 draftee or older one.

Seeing the way things are playing out, your predictions seem very accurate. Good on you for calling it ahead of time.

Now being reported the Cards will sign Bradford.

Well that’s better news for AJ than the other way around ( but just slightly because we still have experienced qbs out there) but any deal with the Bills will probably be like the Chiefs last year with Alex Smith as the Bills will in all likelihood take a qb 1st round . But it would be better for AJ to get some PT than not.

It’s probably coming down to McCown and AJ for the Bills job. But it’s going to be a bridge position so it’s probably going to the lowest bidder regardless of talent.

Yeah, I'd hate to make a ton of money to play a game, own a few businesses and have a beautiful family...worse and worse.. :)

Kidding...I know where you're coming from...

It keeps getting worse and worse for AJ......

ESPN's NFL Live was reporting at noon that Cousins entire $84 million contract is being guaranteed by the Vikings. The entire panel of NFL Live just looked at each other in disbelief. Bill Polian all but said this was an idiotic move and could come back and bite the Vikes in the rear end. They were also breaking down Cousin's stats and a lot of his stats were racked up against non playoff teams and they were pointing out how his stats drastically dropped when playing teams with winning records.

I say that to say that teams are willing to take absurd risks to find their quarterback. Even when the analysis of his stats point to him not being as good as he his total stats may seem. I wonder how much "Too much" is AJ asking?

Big difference in folks asking too much for a guy that has been a starter for awhile and a guy that has started 4 games. Cousins was sought after by 4-5 teams as a starter. AJ is still viewed as a backup QB. The narrative is that he and his agent have been asking for general starter pay for free agents. Very few if any team is going to pay that for 4 starts.

Do I believe that AJ is worth what he is reportedly asking? Yes, but let’s be realistic very few people are going to pay that for 4 starts

Do I believe that Cousins is worth what he got? No, but if the sharks are going to fight over me let them.

What's the average pay for a starter, 18-20 million?

Those are franchise starter pay. Many free agent starters are in the single millions. Foles was at 5 million last year. Fitzpatrick was at 3 million. Jamies, Wentz, and mariotta are at 6.

McCarron should be at that 1-2 million minimum spot if he was a free agent starter, but career backups are in the 100ks and that’s where most see him.

FWIW I don’t see how Cousins now makes more than AR at 23million a year, but I can see him over Big Ben and Brady.

Re: AJ McCarron Wins Grievance Against Bengals and Will Become Free Agent

Cousins got this contract for one reason - the other franchise QBs out there never reached the free agent market - never. Their teams kept them under contract. So he is getting paid more than he is worth for that reason. The same thing happened to the last guy like him - Drew Brees.

The NFL Live panel was stunned they not only paid him $84 million, but guaranteed the entire contract. Polian said the rest of the owners were not going to be very happy with the Vikings. I'm very biased on this topic and not in a good way. I had Cousins on my fantasy team a few times the last several years. Highly, highly inconsistent and will lay a major egg at the worst times. That is from a fantasy football perspective. Doug Williams of the Redskins made comments pointing out some of those same things from an on the field football perspective. My guess is this investment isn't going to bring much of a return for the vikes. This just smells like a bust.

It has the potential to be a Matt Cassel or Drew Brees type of situation. The Vikes do have some good players around him. Case Keemun did lead them to the NFC CG. I wouldn’t put that much money out there for him and would’ve either stuck with Keemun or Bradford if I couldn’t get Foles in a trade.

Re: AJ McCarron Wins Grievance Against Bengals and Will Become Free Agent

What about Miami? They can't be comfortable with their QB situation.
Tannehill is pretty much firmly their qb like Bortles was pretty much the Jags qb. So I wouldn’t bet on the Dolphins outside them looking for a backup.

Also consider that cutler was signed from the booth to fill in for RT when he was injured before the season last year. If they were looking to replace him then putting him on IR and calling a guy from FOX sports is a weird way of showing it.

I don't know how confident they are about his knee.

I think, fair or not, AJ's starting options are disappearing anyway.
