No matter the recovery time, Nick wants OU Prepping for both QBs.
Yep, wouldn't surprise me if we hear little, if anything, on Tua between now and 12/29. Once practice starts, CNS may not have him on the field during media time. I suspect he'll be very vague in pressers as well. I sure would be.

I had a high ankle sprain 30 years ago. It wasn’t 2 weeeks , it was more like 4 or 5. Of course we have made huge advancements in sports medicine since then. My biggest thing is the long term affects of this injury. My ankle is a little unstable and more easily rolled than the other ankle. Also, there is less range of motion And the ankle is noticeably bigger.
I can relate. Rolled mine playing tackle football on the lawn @ the dorm as a 17 year old freshman. They had to carry me into the building & stuck my foot into a trash can full of ice water. 44 years later it is still noticeably larger and every time I step on something uneven it tries to go. Back then they didn’t even have “boots”. It was pretty much wrap it up - give you a pair of crutches for a few days and suck it up.

In HS BB practice I popped my right ankle (came down on someone's foot). Tried running but had to stop. Had problems for years with it going out. PT helped with that. It hardly happens now but a couple years ago I turned it while weedeating and it was a high ankle sprain. Very painful and took about 4 weeks but I did not have surgery or stem cells to speed the process.

John Merrill, the Alabama Secretary of State, posted a picture on Twitter of himself and Tua at the Mal Moore Athletic Facility yesterday. So, no extended hospital stay for Tua.

Being at the game, I can assure you that we had RBs running absolutely uncovered out of the backfield all night. Yet Tua rarely targeted them. Kirby made a decision to not allow the deep downfield throws and he left the RBs totally unaccounted for. We have to incorporate the RBs back into the passing game.

Thanks for the report. You can always see more in person than from the TV angles. FWIW, I thought I noticed our running backs being uncovered on several times too, but Tua always had his eyes downfield.

To Georgia's credit, they were taking away the downfield shots and by the time Tua read the defense, his running back was no longer available.

I thought before the game this is what Georgia would do and that Tua would just take the underneath stuff, but he didn't and/or we didn't call enough plays with shorter routes available.

Every play has a few reads which will determine where the ball should go. I watched the game again yesterday and saw Tua, several times, see the double safeties and still look deep before looking to the middle of the field. This is very frustrating to watch. He was not taking what GA was giving him. He is a GREAT QB, but he has to work on this.

Yes I agree totally with what you said. I did listen to the video of Saban. Some words have a different meaning when used by non-physicians versus physicians. For example, non-physicians think the term "acute" means serious. In medical parlance "acute" means recent. You can have an acute myocardial infarction (obviously serious and life threatening) or an acute scratch from a willow branch. People say someone was in "shock" after a frightening event like a car accident but in medical parlance shock means something totally different (a state of decreased circulatory perfusion). I heard what Coach said about a high sprain but then he also said Tua might get scoped and be practicing in 2 weeks so it is hard to reconcile all three of those things unless a lateral ankle ligament tear that showed up on MRI was called a "high sprain" using high as synonom for 3rd degree TFL tear. If it is a lateral ligament tear then he still won't have full mobility on 12/29 but he might be able to get around with a velcro ankle splint and throw the ball. Stepping forward and planting the foot is less of a problem than quick cuts to the side.

Very disappointed in our students. When I was in school, someone would've already reported on the walk to class or stalked the football complex for an update or a picture verifying what type of walking assistance he has.

Will he be on crutches, etc. when we see him at the Awards programs, especially the Heisman Trophy celebration? Will he have Coach Saban on one side and his dad on the other helping to hold him UP when/if he receives the Heisman?

I personally hope they have him in a wheelchair regardless of his actual condition! Keep `em guessin`.

I experienced the same thing when playing basketball in high school and it took me about a month to recover. Even then, I was not back to normal. After three decades, my ankle is still larger than normal and is easy to re-injure. Maybe modern medicine has solved most of these lingering problems.

The sportscaster on WALA Fox 10 in Mobile had a segment on Tua's injury tonight. She said he will have surgery on his rt ankle which was injured in the 4th quarter. You would think they would actually check their facts before broadcasting the story. Maybe if she had read TideFans she would know it was his left ankle hurt early in the game and that he has already had surgery.

And obtuse in the same in any setting.

Tua's mom says he is feeling great after surgery. There is a video on Rick Karle's Twitter feed. First part of video is about Thompson's send off to play for the state title. At the end she is asked about Tua.
