Why defense should matter in the Heisman race

The fact is them are the breaks.

Murray took more snaps - meaning he had more chances to be injured, too.
I am not one who cares about "fairness". If Tua wins I will be very happy, but if he loses I won't argue about it not being fair. But I expect conversations about it on an Alabama board to be objective. One cannot objectively compare Tua's season and Murray's season and come away feeling like anyone other than Tua had the better season. It requires a bias to reach a different conclusion.

But that doesn't mean that Tua will win. It only means that Tua should win.

So we have either 3 days of enjoying the heisman or about 6 days of conspiracy theories and excuses to look forward to on this board.... please Tua win
If he loses it will be for a simple reason - Americans have a 10 second memory.

I don't disagree with any of this.

Defense should matter , but if the circumstances were reversed we would argue that Tua’s numbers were just that eye popping. I think we are discussing the wrong 2, because of Mayfield last year , Murray’s numbers have a lot to do with the system he is in, and the poor defense of the Big 12. I think the race should be between Haskins and Tua. just my opinion..

Haskins is very confident. He has been a great representative of Ohio State in his interviews the last few days. Even though he says that he won't decide about the draft until after the Rose Bowl, he is acting like he is gone.

I love how all fans of other schools say Alabama fans are inbred. We all marry our cousins and we all have dirt floors. In case you didn’t know. ;) I mean it’s like their only argument because they can’t stand we win all the time.

*ding*ding*ding. Winner! They have no on field answer so they resort to this. Makes me proud in a way , I know we are winning when I hear this as their nuclear retort. Georgia fans are famous for it, almost every Bama /Georgia debate ends with this . As if a line on a map controls social behavior within a state.

This would bother me more if we'd never had a Heisman winner.

But I don't really even overly care.

I think there are way too many awards in the first place. You'll notice you never see me post on those - because there's now so many they're meaningless.

I consider the following Heisman winners of my lifetime to be jokes anyway. The "real winner" is in parentheses:

1980 - George Rogers (Herschel Walker)
1984 - Doug Flutie (Robbie Bosco)
1987 - Tim Brown (Don MacPherson)
1989 - Andre Ware (Darian Hagan, who finished fifth)
1990 - Ty Detmer (Eric Bienemy)
1992 - Gino Torretta (Garrison Hearst)
1994 - Rashaan Salaam (Ki-Jana Carter or Kerry Collins - they split the vote)
1996 - Danny Woeful (Jake Plummer)
1997 - Charles Woodson (Peyton Manning)
1998 - Ricky Williams (Michael Bishop)
1999 - Ron Dayne (Michael Vick)
2000 - Chris Weinke (LaDanian Tomlinson)
2001 - Eric Crouch (Joey Harrington)
2006 - Troy Smith (Brady Quinn)

There's others I might dispute but ho-hum.

Fun fact: Kyler Murray stats when he had to play SEC defense’s

QBR: 109.2
59.5%
686 yards
5 TD’s
7 Int’s

He would only play 8 games after getting replaced by Kyle Allen.

P.S. How many championships does your coach have in the last 10 years? I bet it isn't as many as ours.....yet another fun FACT for you.

If you're gonna troll on someone else's board, Sunshine, either come correct or stay home.

That's not correct.

Saban's DEFENSE didn't give up 45 points. The last touchdown was a fumble recovery.

Oh, and OU's 429 yards in that game?

Hell, Johnny Manziel got over 600.

So despite the "hey, look what we did" nature I've noticed coming out of Oklahoma in the last two weeks, not one of you yet has gotten your facts correct.

Incidentally, unless you're planning on us turning the ball over five times......

And Oklahoma's defense that year was WORLD'S better than the current one.

You're not gonna be here very long I see.

However.......since your last national championship, Nick Saban by himself has six, only one less than in the entire existence of your school.

It's five at Alabama since your last one.

And fine - I'll use "Sooner math," where folks pretend that football was invented in 1936 with the AP poll. It's still 12 to 7.

That's a BIG hill to climb buddy boy.

The original OU fight song was a beautiful song but, unfortunately, contained far too many words for Sooner fans to remember.

As a result, the current song was written - which contains just three words and two letters yet still taxes the intellect of most Sooner fans...

It is the most annoying song because how many times they play it. I almost would rather listen to rocky top.

What was the original song?
