If all 3 of the juniors stay and Josh gets his waiver approved, I think that your defense will be better than this year's version. If you lose all three - I just can't see how it will be better overall. We have to see what players will be available.
I think the Linebackers we have coming in are better than what we have had the past two years, but it is probably going to take time to completely understand the system. I expect to see far more changes than what it appears that may hurt us next year but will pay off 2 to 3 years down the line.

No offense at all to Mac, but I think QB is wide open.
I do expect Young, Lia, and the rest to have a shot come Spring. But folks are selling Mac short. Getting a month's worth of playing time this season will do wonders for him coming up this off season. I don't know how you couldn't be impressed with his performance against Auburn. He was harassed several times, and several times made great throws while being pummeled by Auburn's DL. Yeah, the 2 pick 6s. But again, that's invaluable experience he now has, that none of the rest of the guys do.

This schedule worries me as much as thinking how bad will we play in this upcoming bowl game. I know we are 10-2 but we look like a Mike Shula coached team.. To be honest I am dreading the bowl and next season.
I think you need to go back and watch the Mike Shula era. In fact, just stick to the 2005 season, his best. You need your perspective to be adjusted.

I think we will be fine going into next season offense will likely take a step back especially if all the juniors leave early but we should still be solid and capable of putting points on the scoreboard. On Defense I definitely see improving I have a feeling that will be a huge priority this off season. As far as the bowl game goes I do share your concern there. Bama does not have a good track record under Saban in bowl games that are not for a title. Two stand out immediately the Utah game after the 2008 season and the Oklahoma game after the 2013 season both were played by a uninspired team.

USC/Georgia/LSU/Auburn are the only possible losses as I see it. I don’t think we will lose all four by any means but losing two and possibly even three of them is a real possibility if we don’t get our problems on D fixed.

The good news about this though is there have only been four years (now five) since Coach Saban has been here that the bowl game hasn't meant a whole lot to us.

Swapping USC and Duke for Georgia and the real USC definitely makes for a tougher schedule.

You can bet that all of this wont be lost on CNS. Just like coach Bryant adapted in the 70's, CNS will make needed changes now.

I'm a big fan of Waddle and hoping he has a heisman year. Hopefully after some defensive coaching changes we can get our defense on track.

I don't think Waddle can win the Heisman next year (Lawrence & Fields) but I have a feeling he'll at least get an invite to New York

Maybe I'm a fool, but I'm just not that scared of this schedule. I'm supposed to be terrified of a 8-4 USC that just fired their coach. Maybe they make a home run hire that changes my mind on this, but Bama has played very well in these big season openers. LSU will be a talented team, but who is their QB? Can they bring in someone off of "free agency" that can do what Burrow did? Not likely. I'm also not sure Brady is even there next year coaching the offense. UGA is probably the most scary, but alot of that comes down to who is under center. If Fromm stays then it's probably a little harder, but remember UGA is running an antiquated offense that plays into the strength of what CNS's defense is good at stopping. The Barn will lose their entire OL and both of those huge DL. The game will also be in Bryant Denny so that helps immensely.

The level of talent Bama has on the roster just has to be coached up, and I think CNS can do that. There are young guys especially on the offensive side of the ball that are incredibly talented and ready for their turn on the stage. Bama found their punter, I expect Reichard to be a great improvement on FG, Bama will have the best kick and punt returner in the country, Multiple options at QB, plenty of talent on the OL, a bunch of really talented young WR's ready to go, and really good RB's in the wings.

As long as the injury bug doesn't decimate the defense again that unit has the potential to be good. Surtain and Battle will be back, and I was really impressed with Battle this year, Barmore is going to be crazy disruptive, Harris has the talent to be a stud in the mold of Mosely, and all these young guys will have another year of real experience and have all spring and fall camp to get ready to be "the guys".

These other teams will all lose really important players. I expect Bama to win all those games. Maybe they won't, but I think they can and will.

I feel the opposite. The schedule will challenge your players and coaches. There will be better practices in the spring and summer, knowing what you just went through and what you will face immediately in 2020. IMO, that schedule will help this team prepare for the season, and championships are won in the off-season.
Some early tests this year might have made the difference in later games, in a positive way.

I think Leatherwood, Wills, Brown, and Neal will all play in the NFL. But there's not one of the three eligibles who wouldn't raise his stock by waiting another year. If they do, we should have a great OL next year.

Allow me to dream.

Tua comes back. Ruggs or D. Smith comes back. Najee comes back. Moses comes back. We actually have decent injury luck for a change.

I mean, that looks like 12-0 to me.

Our offense will be fine. We don't have to have Tua, Ruggs, Smith, and Najee to go 12-0 next year. We have plenty of talent on offense.

Defense is the issue. I'll admit, having Moses back would be a big help. But we have plenty of talent on both sides of the ball to have a great team, if we don't beat ourselves with stupid penalties, undisciplined errors, and we have luck with injuries.
