Y’all say I’m too pessimistic. Well, whatever the exact opposite of me is, this is it.

12-0? Hahahaha.
I didn't say we would go 12-0. I said we have enough talent on offense to go 12-0, even without those guys you listed. As I said in the rest of my post, defense is the issue.

USC, Georgia, LSU, and AU will all be tough. All of those are losable games. This year only 3 of them were losable going in and Bama lost of them. TAMU was the one win.
Different team(s),older more experienced players, coaches, learning curve...lots to be positive about...FTR...those are all losable games for USC, UGA, LSU and the boogs...

You may end up being right...but you can’t call dinner until you have the ingredients...

If something doesn't change, Bama will lose at least 2 games next year. Maybe Saban gets the team to be disciplined again. Maybe the defense isn't a dumpster fire again. Maybe a lot of things. But things have to change.

This was Saban's worst season since 2007. I had thought the 2010 season was worse, but Bama lost to the SEC East champ in an away game where their QB had the game of his life. Bama lost at a good LSU team that would win the SEC the next year. Then they lost to the eventual national champion.

Bama's schedule and who each team plays the week before:

USC (USC is off the week before since, you know, it's the 1st game)
Georgia State (Murray State)
Georgia (ETSU)
Kent State (Kentucky)
@Ole Miss (@LSU)
@Arkansas (Charleston Southern)
Miss State (OFF)
@Tennessee (OFF)
OFF WEEK
@LSU (OFF)
UT Martin (TN Tech)
TAMU (Vanderbilt)
Auburn (LSU)
'
So 3 SEC Teams get off weeks before playing Bama.

...and we’re off before USC (1st game), cupcake before UGA ,off before LSU and The boogs have LSU the week before we play.
We can all make things look better or worse, depending on how we feel...I feel pretty good about next year...

I agree that winning a championship would be a lot easier if those things are all fixed, but IMO, you don't need them all to be fixed. Fix 2 of them and you are probably winning every game next year. Pick any 2 of the following, you probably win it all. If Tua comes back you might win it all without fixing any of them.

No doubt improvements will need to be made next year to navigate what looks to be a pretty tough schedule.

But come on, this season is not worse than 2010. The teams we lost to this year are better than the teams we lost to in 2010 except Auburn who we blew a 24-0 lead to at home. That South Carolina team finished 9-5. We also could have easily lost to Arkansas in Fayetteville. Ryan Mallett practically threw us the game. 2010 was a massive disappointment given the expectations.

We haven't lost more than one regular season game since that year. We were due, and it still took a TON of injuries and some awful luck to do it.

I think we will be fine going into next season offense will likely take a step back especially if all the juniors leave early but we should still be solid and capable of putting points on the scoreboard. On Defense I definitely see improving I have a feeling that will be a huge priority this off season. As far as the bowl game goes I do share your concern there. Bama does not have a good track record under Saban in bowl games that are not for a title. Two stand out immediately the Utah game after the 2008 season and the Oklahoma game after the 2013 season both were played by a uninspired team.
The Utah game was after going undefeated and having their hearts broken in the last game by Florida, thus missing the NCG. The OU game, undefeated and going for a threepeat and hearts ripped out by the kick 6. I'm hoping the 2010 results are more fitting this year. That year we had multiple losses and a very disappointing season, much like this year, and that bunch came out with something to prove. Hopefully we don't have any players decide to skip the bowl game and they come out playing inspired ball.

Dang! A preview for the 2020 season back before we had any inkling of what was really about to happen with COVID 19. Let alone how the season would be altered in a major way. It's strange to read that now
