If a top 15 pick is Tua's "minimum standard" for making it worth entering the NFL draft. I think his chances of coming back drastically increase. I'm just not sure a team is going to take a chance on him with that high of a pick not knowing what they're getting when he fully recovers. Teams picking in the top 15 are trying to get better "now". Look at the teams that will more than likely be picking in the top 15. These teams are drafting players in hopes of helping them out in 2020. Not 2021.

After I watched the Herbstreit interview what I think Tua is saying is he wants to be a top pick. It sounds like he's willing to "postpone" (you can use the word "risk" I guess) getting paid this year as a lower pick to wait and prove himself next year and get paid more as one of the first picks. Trying to leave my "fandom" out of it, I think him returning looks more probable based on his own reasoning.

To me - and this is just my opinion - it sounds like there is some ego, or maybe just life goals, at play here.

To me, being a late first round would be ideal for him because he's more than likely going into a better situation as far as overall team talent is concerned. He would still make really good (just not top 10 good) money and most likely be in a situation where he wouldn't necessarily be pressed to start his first season.

But . . . if your ego - or maybe even life goals- is driving towards being a top pick, then the narrative is obviously different. I think if I were going to stay at Bama for another year, a LOV policy has got to be part of the package.

Tough decision for him; but he seems to have a good head on his shoulders and a family that supports him in the right way. I'm happy for him either way.

Sounds like he is making a business decision. He is trying to weigh the pros and cons of the decision and come to the best choice for him and his family. He doesn't want to be a top pick so he can say to himself or anyone else that he was a top pick. He wants to be a top pick because of the financial benefits that come with that.

You think that going later in the first round would be better for him. You are guessing. Most NFL players only get one contract.

Only a player with a huge ego would assume that he will get a second contract, or that the second contract would be big enough to offest $20MM+ in first contract losses by dropping in the draft. Tua is making no such assumption. What he is doing is the exact opposite of letting his ego impact his decision.

The whole thing is and I'm not trying to call you out on this. I hope you don't take this the wrong way. Do you really think that EGO is at play here? Like BIG1Tide said, it's simply a business decision. Lot of people have said on this board that Tua would be better off going to a good team and wait few years. I don't think that's not necessary true. A team can become whole lot better in a year with right QB, right coaches and good chemistry and all of suddenly, theyre a dangerous team. Look at Dallas Cowboy. Lot of talents on the team. But they're not being maximized to the fullest potential. Tua Is looking at this as High Risk, High Reward philosophy wither it's going to NFL or staying at Alabama. either way, he wins.

Keep that in mind, the site isn't always good source to refer to at times. Whenever someone credible breaks a new, they tend to take that and write an article about that. I call them "third party magazine." Basically, repeating stuff other sites are saying.

If I'm reading this the way it is written it looks like Herbstreit is leading the meeting??? That's the way it is written, but surely the point is Tua is leading the meeting.

I agree, but there were direct references to Herbstreit about the meeting. However, going back through and looking at the sentence structure and other aspects, you may be right.
