Finally getting a chance to watch the Bama/Auburn game. You know, if we would have come out with a hot hand from 3 land we would have blown them out of the gym in the first 10 minutes of the game.

Something to watch in the next few recruiting cycles, but when Oats gets some more pure shooters (which right now we are limited on now) his style of play will get even more explosive. My understanding is Oats wants all 5 players on the court to be a threat from the 3 point line. When this happens...WOW.
I am tickled to death to see a big man (Reese) able to sit out at the wing and stroke 3 pointers at any given time. And Coach Oats has no problem with that.

Don't get me wrong, I love where we're at now. The guys are learning to win and seem to be free to shoot and not scared to do so.
I'm loving this team right now.

CNO seems to be just what we needed. The team is surely playing with a lot of energy and is settling into what he is coaching. I surely hope that they can get a win at Vandy. Those have been in short supply over the years.

Curious...how many games have you watched? Did you watch tonight?

Two. At the conclusion of the season, let’s look at his SEC road record then I think we will have a better feel for how successful he will be. I liked Gottfried but his undoing (aside from off the court issues) was he could not win on the road.

We need to beat Vandy.

There’s not a big enough body of work yet for me to make that determination yet. Get back with me after the season and let’s look at his SEC road record. That figure will be a great indicator.
Big enough body of work to say you aren't impressed, but not big enough to say he's already made a difference or that they have performed well the past two games. OK. Gotcha.

Or put another way: Big enough body of work to say something negative but not big enough to say one thing that is positive.

Most coaches in this league are going to fail a test of how many road games did you win. Winning at home is key. You have to steal a few on the road to be better than average. More important this year is whether this team is better at the end than at the beginning of the season. But we aren't Oklahoma, so whatever.

Even though I did not agree with the hire, he is our coach and I think he should get four years at a minimum. I am not advocating for his dismissal. But how he does on the road is a big indicator. Just disregarding that as not important is basically like giving him a pass.

Guys, this is basketball, not life. It’s easy to be a cheerleader and just go along to get along. I’m giving my honest opinion. What we need at Alabama in basketball is the same thing we needed in football thirteen years ago—elite talent/players and a very good coach. Only time will tell if this guy can get players. And can he develop and coach them up? We will see. But seven losses this shallow into a new season is not good. If he can win 20 games and get us in the tournament then I’ll say he is headed in the right direction.(by the way I think thats a low bar)

Words fail me, but my eyes do not.

If you can’t see that we’re light years better off now than we were a year ago, Stevie Wonder needs to do your next eye exam.

How about not a damned one of us cares to "get back" with you. Your knowledge of basketball has already been put on full display...

Coach Oats has taken a team that in the last 6-8 years was afraid to take shots and just grossly underdeveloped to a team who's is not afraid to take shots and is consistently scoring around 90 points a game. You have to give Coach Oats a pass for the first 8-10 games due to the team still getting acclimated to the system and still trying to learn how to win and how to stay focused mentally all game long as they sure weren't taught that under the last coach.
I admittedly don't know a whole lot about basketball Xs and Os but like others on here have already said I can see more hustle, the team communicating on the floor and the ball movement that we haven't seen from an Alabama team in years.
A year or two ago we would have lost the game against MU after winning a big game before this game because we just weren't mentally tough enough to string games together. Anyone with eyes can see improvement in this team from game to game.
Our record right now is not indicative of how this team has developed and improved. You simply can't say that just because we drop some road games that Coach Oats and this team is a failure. That's an unfair assessment and quite disingenuous.

If you watch the games you can tell there just something different. You don’t even have to know what is it or be able to describe it... but you can tell it’s there. I can see it in the effort and confidence. Of course I can also see it in the scoreboard.

That said, I have been ‘trained‘ to be pessimistic about Bama basketball unfortunately, so I know where deliveryman35 is coming from. It was pretty big to me that we followed up what felt like a huge Auburn win with another win (and not a letdown).

I’m really fighting my pessimism right now and I am choosing to be excited and optimistic.
