Scott Cochran is Leaving for Georgia

Don't just post link... There are lot of gems in the article that left me speechless.

Lot of takes here. Cochran was so determined to be on the field coach that he forgot to run S&C program. This articles explain lot of things that happened over the years. This make Conchran looks bad.
makes those stupid commercials from this last year seem even worse

Gotta agree!

If his mind wasn't on his job...its time for a change. )Kiffin and Locksley clearly had other things on their minds in their final games with us.)

This was clearly a win-win for both sides.

Also sounds like he just wanted to be the ST coach without putting in the required effort to learn it fully...…...…….I agree, it is a bad look. It wont be long before he is bad mouthing Saban and Bama......….You don't just get a position just because you want it

I also think not trusting the judgement of not only a college HC but arguably the greatest college HC of all time, that he wasn't ready to take on that position says a lot. Coach Saban has never been one to selfishly try to hinder someone's upward career mobility. He's actually done quite the opposite. So for him to tell Cochran he was ready but if he'd start sitting in on the meetings and educate himself then he could tells me Saban just didn't think the guy was ready/qualified.

I'll say this and I probably will move on from this, but I often wondered if Scott was distracted over the last two years and the comment right there "Saban, meanwhile, had concerns about numbers and results from a strength and conditioning standpoint and wanted tweaks made to the program. Sources said Saban began “riding Cochran mercilessly in front of staff.""

Did he make those changes? Did Scott felt challenged and didn't want to do his job?

Now that he is gone, You can bet there are lot of adjustments made and you'll see the impact almost immediately.

I agree...…………...if the head man says you aren't ready, it might be prudent to listen to his advice and make yourself ready. And the boss shouldnt have to ride your tail to do your job

When you will not/cannot do what the head guy says, then you're doomed, one way or the other. SC gave us a lot of good years and I hope it works out for him...except for next September and every year UGA faces UA after that...LOL.

Many times working relationships have their "seasons". They just get stale and both parties have had enough of each other and a change is best for both parties.

Yep. Once CNS told him “you’re not ready” there would never be enough balm to soothe Scott’s chapped rear end.

Let me again say how thankful I am I won't have to hear the yelling at BDS anymore.

Everything about how this has played out pleases me. Everything.

I am glad too that Saban and Cochran have gone separate ways, mainly because it will actually help the Strength and Conditioning program. I liked Cochran while he was at Bama, but the injuries the past few years had me wondering things. I just wish he would have gone to Ole Miss, Michigan State, or the Giants, the teams the articles mentioned. UGA is one of the teams I did not want him going to (Auburn, Tennessee are the others). If it really did end on bad terms, I would not be surprised that he may tell Kirby all he needs to know about Bama (that Kirby does not know already). I actually wish Cochran would have been willing to sit in on the Special Teams meetings for a year or so like Saban suggested, then maybe be an on field coach after that, and keeping a good relationship with Saban. But, things happen for a reason. I think good things will come from it for Bama, but unfortunately for UGA too.

There are not as many "secrets" as we outsiders think...most good coaches can tell you what another team will do...just not exactly when and not have the athletes to stop it.

Scott Cochran confirms to me why CNS limits assistants from speaking to the media. SC, in my opinion, started to believe his own hype. If it weren’t for CNS, he’d probably would still be an unknown in the S&C world.

Wait a minute, wasn't it said earlier that Cochran was "acting" as 'Bama's scout team ST coach?

Sounds like Saban could have held onto him if he had touted him for a "Body by Jake" franchise and studio in T'town, and had him appointed as coach of 'Bama's club lacrosse team for further on-the-field apprenticing!
