I was there for a year, 79-80. iirc Milliken had 5 mills around La Grange, although only one would be high impact vis a vis corona transmission. Buckhead seemed to be on the edge of town back then.it was the last time i was there (i worked on a couple year long project for troup back in 2009-10). they also have a large kia plant.
We've had some here on the mountain give or sell us part of their orders/portions from co-ops. I mean orders delivered. We can't do it with just two of us. We have a number of producer markets which setup on a weekly basis. There are two permanent markets, further away, but we haven't tried them. We would have, if they were only four blocks away. In one direction, there's nothing but a big state park and other protected land. In the other, it's just more folk...We rejoined a local farmer's co-op after they moved their location to 4 blocks from the house. So I won't have to go in the produce section at the grocery as a matter of routine anymore. Its an open, low volume venue.
The one we are going to has an order size - small/medium/large - and depending on what comes in that week is what you get in the order. So, you just go grab your bag. They do have extras you can get a la carte. We've had some here on the mountain give or sell us part of their orders/portions from co-ops. I mean orders delivered. We can't do it with just two of us. I'd give you some of the eggs from our chickens, but I think Huntsville to Kathleen is a bit too far! We've been donating them to people from our church (they're available for a set, pre-announced time on a table outside the church building). We've had some here on the mountain give or sell us part of their orders/portions from co-ops. We had the same thing recently. HVAC guy first in the house since January - no mask. He had also “only read that was the same as a flu.” So that was a disappointment but not unexpected in Alabama. Did at least mostly keep distancing in check.Well, we've been so careful. Today, we had a young HVAC tech come in (lightning damage to our thermostat) I didn't think of a mask and he wasn't wearing one. At least he talked to me from six feet away. First person in our house, other than our postal carrier and egg lady, who were just at the door. Oh well, fingers crossed. It's just so easy to have a brain fart...
We've been having HVAC ppl in and out working on our basement unit. I straight up tell the scheduler they can't come in without a mask, and tell them the same at the door. My house.. My rules. We had the same thing recently. HVAC guy first in the house since January - no mask. Weren’t thrilled. We did upgrade to the virus level air filters a while back but not sure how much it’ll help. Opening windows & letting fresh air in may help more than that. We did disinfect every surface they were touching after they left.
We have the finest filters also. Where I was when he was speaking to me is unfortunately an area of poor circulation. I gave about 30 minutes or so for any droplets to settle out and then held my breath through the area where he stood. Of course, I'll also disinfect the thermostat, which he has to replace, anyway...We had the same thing recently. HVAC guy first in the house since January - no mask. We had to have some AC work a couple of weeks ago. The attic access is right in front of the back door. I talked to them in the yard, sent them through the back, and aired out and bleached after they were done. We've been having HVAC ppl in and out working on our basement unit. Masking here has dropped precipitately, thanks to the example of Dear Leader...![]()
Coronavirus cases in Huntsville ‘have started to climb,' officials say
COVID-19 cases have jumped in Madison County to 649 confirmed cases and six deaths, officials said in a briefing today.www.al.com
It's a problem. Just ask medical professionals. I had a bunch of N95s on hand when the pandemic started. I had bought them for woodworking but I found I couldn't tolerate them after they got a little damp, when they got almost impossible to breathe through. I agree about kids. Our city/county officials here are trying to set a good example. Three times a week, they have a TV briefing on the status of the situation. They take their masks off to speak. It's the mayors of HSV and Madison, County commission chairman, then Landers, the local ADPH doc, the CEOs of both hospitals, etc. They all have rosacea-looking faces from masks...I went into work yesterday to help my wife unbox orders for next year. We had to get permission to go into the building and wear a mask. Just having the mask on for 1 of the 4 hours was unbearable. I can't imagine if you have a respiratory problem and have to wear a mask. I just can't see kids sitting in a classroom with masks on for more than 30 minutes.
i am shocked, shocked that there are shenanigans going on in georgia.Well everyone was scratching their head wondering how GA was keeping numbers down while every state around us is blowing up. I guess this pulls the curtain back on that a little.
