Just another reason this is never going to fly. Atlanta isn’t losing that game. The only scenario I could see is Jerry World and Atlanta rotating. Arrowhead is a non-starter. They aren’t playing the game in an open air stadium in what would likely be crappy climate.

No, there is a reason this was leaked today but it’s not because it’s a realistic possibility. Someone is hoping to influence something here… but like I said earlier what in the world does the Big 12 still have to offer Texas? You can’t squeeze blood from a turnip…
Arrowhead used to be the host for the Big XII championship. There were really never any issues that I can recall.

But in a way I would prefer a rotation in any event.

I still think if these two join then their first gripe is going to be that Georgia and Alabama have a sizable advantage with it being in Atlanta

Just curious - how does someone know whether a "leak" has a reputable source ? I recall that more than once "sources" said Saban was headed to Texas - and Ms. Terry was house-shopping in Austin.

People have varied opinions about whether TX tried to get Saban. But one thing is 100% certain - there is not a shred of proof that Ms. Terry ever went house shopping in Austin. Not a shred. Anyone got actual proof bring it.

Remember! The SEC is the Southeastern Conference, NOT the SouthWESTERN Conference. Now, I'm sure ut would want to have the Championship Game in the SouthWEST. You know how they like to CONTROL things.

Dyslexic moment? Heh...
I meant to type TLDR which stands for too long didn't read.

As far as the vote discussion, we're basically having a debate between official and unofficial rules. The question though is it worth angering multiple SEC teams to add Texas and Oklahoma? No one has to stay in the SEC, you rock the boat too much and these programs don't have to stick around.

Sometimes moves are made for political reasons. We don't even know for sure Sankey is interesting, heck we don't even know for sure that Texas and Oklahoma are. Let's just assume the interesting is mutual though.

The SEC added a signing limit. Then, on their own they decided to lower it to 25. At the time they said something along the lines of they expected NCAA legislation or other movement (paraphrasing a bit) to lead other conferences to adopt this rule. 0 conferences did this. Not a single one followed suit.

Not only that, but word came out that SEC head coaches were universally against this! So, they got together and had a vote to do something their head coaches didn't want. They justified this with an entirely false assumption. Why did they do this? Purely for the sake of appearances, basically just for political reasons.

So, even if the SEC does move towards this doesn't mean it's purely because it's a sound financial move. It could just be for the prestige. It could be a group of elite people out of touch with the football programs got together and decided they wanted to do this because they think it is a good idea. It doesn't mean it is...

Whoa! Please provide reputable link to your statement SEC placed signing limit at 25. hat was not an SEC decision - it was NCAA.
That’s an unofficial rule. The actual rule is 75%. Considering 3 teams are automatically voting against Texas (Arkansas, Missouri, and aTm) that requires only 2 more teams to vote against it to kill the move. I don’t think Alabama and Auburn are going to be thrilled going East, you might have push back from MSU about the threat to their baseball factory, and Florida may be 100% against it on the finances.

More or less Texas is probably not going to ever happen. Oklahoma… who knows?
You're so right Carl. I don't see both of them in SEC ever. Maybe one - and that one is OK.

I’m telling you now. You can give me all the “this study shows this money” you want.

If the SEC decides to let the orange man into the room, it’s gonna be exactly like when the last orange man with a long reputation for destruction and very little tangible success other than money and a five-letter name was making real nice with all the right folks up until he got a seat at the table.

And then became the pushy, demanding bully he’d always been. If Greg Sankey and the SEC is THIS dumb, they will deserve what happens to them.

But adding a team in central Texas kinda forces the SEC to pick a central location. New Orleans and Jerry World are probably the top picks.

There were a couple of games with near freezing temp and precipitation and the field looked awful. One of them was one of the OU K-State games. Not bad for an open air stadium in December in Missouri, but a massive step down from Jerry World or Atlanta.

I think Coach Saban would welcome playing the game in Arlington every other year. He seems to like it there.

The NCAA limit is a different thing. The SEC made their own which was a hard cap on signings. The NCAA limit is just for the number of new scholarship players, you could actually sign as many as you wanted. For instance, you could sign 26 and one could enroll later, or if one guy wasn't academically eligible you could sign someone else, etc...

And there we have it. They aren’t re-upping because they’ve likely been given an idea of the financial gap that will exist between the Big 12 and the SEC/Big Ten. And there is no way to make up that gap. The Big 12 is essentially just OU and Texas when it comes to tv money makers. Again… blood from a turnip.

But it takes two to tango. I still do not see A&M ever being for this. I don’t see Missouri wanting it either. Everyone knows how dysfunctional the Big 12 and SWC was. I’m just not sure you invite that in. But! If the SEC turns them down, the Big Ten will not. And the ACC surely will not. So it may be the best play is for the SEC to take them just so the other big player can’t. Or so the weakling in the room (ACC) doesn’t turn into a legit competitor.

Donot forget Arkansas. Arkansas left the SWC because of Texas as well

Calling it now. If this goes down, the Big Ten does not sit idle. I think they get Kansas. Yes, because of basketball and academics.

Beyond that it is tricky and depends on how well the ACC is held together. Notre Dame is a mystery. If forced, and that’s the only way they join anything, they will go with the ACC.

I would think any school that has a conference monopoly in their state would side with the Aggies. Schools like Florida, USCe might align with Arkansas, Aggie and Mizzou!
