No Bryce, no win against Tennessee

O'Brien is not a particularly good OC, but he is not going to be fired mid-season when we are undefeated and very much a playoff/national title contender.

Regarding the original post, I will be shocked if Milroe gets the start. I think it will be a less than 100% Bryce Young, and if it isn't, then it would not surprise me if we go with Simpson.

As for the actual game, I remember going up there in 2016 and they had a solid team with Dobbs and they had confidence, and we steamrolled them. That was the last time they were relevant. One thing that has remained pretty consistent, even in the last 2 years, is that we don't usually play terrible in back-to-back weeks. There will be a lot of hype of Tennessee's chances this week, but I have a feeling the defense will play angry and the offense will get back on track. With that said, if it's Milroe, then I don't have much confidence.

Who would you suggest replaces him?
I don't mean he's retiring in two seconds. 😂😂 But he will eventually. And then we will have to accept someone new. I just want him to go out on a high note (when that time comes) and not hang around too long like Paterno and Bowden

If Bryce isn’t playing it’s a given at this point neither is Milroe unless third string QB gets hurt.

Milroe is not the future of Alabama at QB. No doubt he is very athletic and, has the physical tools, but I think we would all agree that is not the same as QB skills. I have no idea what will happen in Knoxville on Saturday, but know enough that UT will score some points. Can we get enough points out of the offense without Bryce to beat a better team on the road. Once again, the defense will have to win this game or at least keep it close enough for hopefully some offensive output.

I don't think Bryce is the key to beating the viles. He's a very important cog, but the key imo is a good game plan. The garbage I saw last night reeked of a man who didn't do his job for whatever reason.
Bryce is key because he's allowed to change the play at the LOS - i.e., get us out of a bad call and run the right play for the defensive alignment, situation, etc.

After what I saw last night, as I already said, I'll take Bryce at far below 100%...
Yes. At the very least, you want your QB to not do anything to lose it. If we get that next week, we’re one step up from yesterday.

I'm confident Bryce will play against Tennessee. Trying to read between the lines when Saban is speaking can sometimes be a challenge but when the field reporter asked him after the game about Tennessee Saban said right away that hopefully Bryce will be back. To me he had an optimistic tone. Also after the game Saban revealed that Bryce wanted to play near the end. If Bryce still had a lot of pain he would have known he can't throw and never would have requested to play. It would not surprise me though if Saban continues the "game time decision" message for another week just to keep Tennessee guessing.
That place would have erupted last night if Bryce had trotted on the field.

BoB is the worst OC Nick Saban has had. It’s not even close either.

And my memory is not failing me. I remember 2007 Applewhite.
No, he is the best ever and someone should hire him right now. Nebraska, auburn, lsu, oklahoma, fifteenessee, Arizona State, Wisconsin, or any NFL team that needs a HC or OC. Any one of them should hire him.

The other issue I see for next week is Golding getting absolutely schooled by Heupel. Tennessee schemes receivers open and they do it very, very well. Every game I've watched them play they constantly have wide open receivers and it is because of the scheming they do.
I doubt Tennessee scores 20 against us.

I think Bryce will play, be effective, and UT struggles against the first legit defense they face. Relatively speaking, that is. I respect what Heupel has done.

But in the end I expect it to be a very difficult game to win. If we do hold them to 20 or less, we’ve won the game.

In the past two seasons, with how badly we’ve struggled in road games, none of them have been what the environment is going to be at kickoff Saturday. So, if mature and focused Alabama football is going to show up this season, now would be a great time.

Tennessee really has played very average when you look at them. Alabama is the first legit threat they have had. I think we are in for a week of “the streak is about to end”, “Tennessee is the best offense that Bama has faced” “ this is the worst Alabama team in 15 years” “ Rocky top is going to be pumped” and Yadda Yadda. Alabama plays above their own capabilities when they are being disrespected. I honestly don’t think Tennessee can handle the attention they are about to get this week, and they will get Alabama’s full attention.

With Bryce I see Bama 42-17.

I am at a loss for words. Why is a wishbone QB running a Lane Kiffin built offense? I kept wondering about why we do not have a backup QB who can pass the ball at least adequately. The only problem I have with BOB is the predictability of our play calling. If I know what our first down call is going to be (@50% of the time) I know dang well the other sideline knows too.

Without Bryce… can’t imagine we are a favorite in this game. The eye test..Tennessee is playing better all around football than we are. If Bryce comes back and if our offensive line plays significantly better and our secondary covers like a glove..we are still in for a tough game. This will NOT be the beat down variety we've seen over the years. Nothing at all like 58-21, 48-17, 52-24, 44-13, etc. If we win, look for something like a 2009 or 2015 kind of game
