The "theodicy question" -- why a good God allows evil -- is the #1 problem atheists/agnostics state in their reasons to disbelieve in God. Hey, its a problem for me and I've been a believe for 64 years -- still don't understand it.
This post reminds me of the resignation of the fact I spent nearly six figures to obtain a seminary education and haven't had a religious discussion with anyone since the day I left - because they're pointless.

(No offense intended towards you or anyone btw).

Not entirely pointless if a CONVERSATION sharing different perspectives takes place rather than each person spouting their beliefs and not listening to the other. I had a whole cadre of people who attended worship not because they were deep believers, but because they were curious and I was not close-minded. Now, some of the "fervent believers" decided other churches were better for them...C'est la vie.

Yeah - but mostly people either want affirmation in something ridiculous or to fight, too.

There ARE exceptions - but I find them rarer as I get older.

I heard this song for the first time several years ago on the radio. At the time, I had never heard of the disaster but the song was so sad I had to look it up to see if it was a true story. Hit me like a ton of bricks.
