Dallas Turner's "dirty" tackle

The facemask and shoving his face into the ground were two different plays. As noted above, the facemask grab was due to poor fundamentals and undisciplined play. Shoving the opposing QB's face in the ground after a sack is just stupid and thuggish. Turner should've been flagged for it and Saban should've benched him for it...at least for a series or two.
Yes...

" Turner outplayed him"--is that hearsay, based on stats, or , worst of all, from Pete G
It's an opinion based on watching the games in which both played.

It could certainly be wrong.

Is your opinion based on some kind of specific metric...stats, algorithms, etc?

Indeed, just look at current SEC data wherein, I repeat, Sanders is leading in sacks and 4th in tackles, far ahead of Turner. He was a 5* recruit, played both offence/defense, and initially started before his injury-- regardless, both he and Turner should be starters, and Saban should have found a position for him as did Arkansas. No excuse not to see his potential.

Yeah, Bama should totally fire Saban for not trying to force a guy to stay and fight for a position rather than running to another school where play-time would come easier...

Agreed, but it probably made him a lot of money.
He was gonna make money anyway - Saban has essentially said he would have been a starter this year had he stayed. He's too good to keep off the field, and it's possible I'm being too harsh, but he seemed to run away from the challenge rather than fighting to get better and seeing what opportunities arose.

He also has more sacks and tackles than Will Anderson.

Does that mean he's better than Will too?

And do you think that Saban and Golding told him to leave or didn't want him to stick around?

exactly - Saban went as far as to say he probably would have been moved inside, just like Arky did. Trouble was, he got into the portal and made his decision before being able to talk to Saban due to the limited timing of being able to get enrolled and all that stuff. There's a reason that Moody was in the portal, then came back...

Also - he would be, by far, the best blitzer from the ILB spot out of anyone we currently have. He might even make Goldings 1-4-6 defense work better.

Meh, if he really wanted to compete he would have found the time.

I don't disagree with your criticism, but he is the great defensive player on a very average roster rather than being a great player on a great roster. He made plays at Arkansas that he never would have made at Alabama because their scheme and relative weakness around him allowed him to do so.

IMO, he would have been drafted either way, but will go much higher now than he would have at Alabama.

If one wanted to be be the big fish in the small pond, when why ever even go to Bama?

He got beat out and instead of fighting for it he chose the easier path. His life, his choice. But it sure looks to me like he ran away from competition.

Our problem wasn’t about losing Sanders or others in the portal. Our issue is “The Beard of Knowledge”’ wearing the visor and the headset on the sideline, particularly his position group. Busted coverages, terrible angles of pursuit and blitz schemes that go nowhere by the LB’s he’s responsible for.

And yesterday Saban was effusive in his praise of the Beard.

Doesn’t sound like Pete is going anywhere in the off season.

I know. You could in some cases say "well maybe it isn't Pete. Maybe the other position coaches just aren't getting it done. But then I watch the LBs Pete is responsible for coaching not knowing whether to "scratch their fanny or wind their watch" on any given play, and there really is only one conclusion.

He did not leave for an easier path. People (not specifically you) overreact when a guy transfers out. He left because for a few reasons. 1.Yes Turner was coming on but not a huge reason. 2. The main reason is a better overall fit is Arkansas for him and his play style. He had discussions with CNS and knew that it was a better fit. No more no less. Did not betray Bama or our fans did not go to the easier path since he still puts in all the work. He worked his tail off here but as you all know had some bad coaching here and the scheme does not feature players well. Arkansas actually does the LBs better and they put him in the middle where he could move more. He came in willing to play anywhere to make an impact. Had a little bad injury luck. People are so quick to criticize a guy without knowing the real situation.

Fair points, thank you for the clarification.

It's just hard to imagine someone leaving Bama for Arky otherwise, but when you bring up coaching - particularly ILB - it makes a lot of sense (sadly)...
