He was thrown under the bus. The stuff that went on at Tenn was 100% on the athletic department. Somehow they weaseled out of it and blamed it all on Pruitt.
No offense, but I think you're giving CJP way too much credit here.

He's as guilty as they are - he participated. Yes, it sucks that the utk admin was 100% complicit and is now throwing CJP under the bus, but that's the only way they have a hope of not being nuked here.

That said, make no mistake, both utk admin and CJP are guilty here.

Whether or not that makes him 'untouchable' remains to be seen, but, as much as I LOVE the defenses he fielded at Bama, I can't see any way Bama touches him while an almost certain show cause is hanging over him...

I think people misunderstand what he actually he did is still illegal in the NIL era of football and think paying players is completely legal and the ncaa has absolutely no authority over it. Nil did not make it legal for coaches and universities to be able to legally pay players it more made it more legal for boosters and out side sponsors to pay them.

Pruitt screwed up and stupidly dared Tennessee to try to fire him with cause. They won and he lost. He probably should have taken a bad compromise to leave with some money and been done with them but his ego wouldn’t let him. He has far too much Rush Propst in him to allow it.

Wait, didn't one of them McDonald's lunch bags and its "carrier" transition if not impeccably then smack dab in the middle of "We're not in Kansas any more (but [to keep this germane to the conversation] we are in a 1-4-6 and utterly lost in space)"...

Muschamp made a huge difference at Auburn. I lived in Auburn during that time and was able to go to the key games for free. He completely changed the culture on their defense.

Georgia has also profited greatly with him as DC. We need someone very like him. Pruitt is in that mold.
There has been "bad blood" between Saban and Muschamp which I think goes back to their time together at LSU. I recall reading some statement several years ago that they would never work together again. He is Co-DC at UGA along with Glenn Schumann who went to UGA with BowlCut, but worked for CNS after graduating from the University. I would like to see Schumann return to Alabama, but that is not likely to happen. I would prefer Pruitt over Muschamp any day of the week, but Pruitt is not a realistic hire now.

muschamp and Saban’s issues stem from their time with the Dolphins.

I’ve never seen it phrased that way, but you’re absolutely right. Before Pruitt’s time on the Alabama staff, he coached under Propst at Hoover High School.

An interesting comparison would be Hugh Freeze at Ole Miss. When something came out about restrictions hiring him, an automatic suspension of him would have only applied if he was a head coach and not a coordinator.

In the case of Pruitt, I don't see any penalty of any sort that would be applied if he was an analyst. He wouldn't be recruiting or around players, and I've never heard of any NCAA penalty applying to someone in that position. Furthermore though, with the way the NCAA handled Freeze, it's been two years and it's fairly logical that what ever penalty is applied would apply in large part to his role as a head coach.

Like the Freeze situation, it's entirely possible that Alabama be disallowed from hiring entirely on the basis of bad optics, and then another SEC school will snatch him up at a later date because apparently that will be ok.

Yeah and more than a little of Propst unethical stuff (that was for the field) Pruitt was more than a little aware of. In some cases Pruitt was allegedly directly involved in it.

Haven’t read through this, but obvious OC consideration should be Freddie Kitchens
Does anybody have any insight on whether he’s being looked at?
I personally would love to see Freddie Kitchens back at Bama as the OC.
Maybe this already been discussed and I missed it. 🤷🏻‍♂️

He admitted to giving a mother money.

What about Jake Spavital for OC. He was OC when Manziel was the QB at A&M. I know he was recently fired from a HC position. I remember those offenses being productive, but I really don’t recall if it was his play calling or Johnny Football’s improvisation skills from the QB position.
