Helen Keller would be an upgrade.

Someone who has never watched a football game would be an upgrade.

An Auburn fan with rickets and a porn addiction would be an upgrade.

Alec Baldwin with a loaded gun would be an upgrade.

Hell, Clay Travis calling Alabama plays wearing orange would be an upgrade over what we have just endured.
I dont know..............I'd have to draw the line at the last three.............now if it were Alec Baldwin wearing orange with rickets and Clay Travis with a gun to his head while watching porn, that might be a really crazy upgrade

I don’t think we have really used a TE since OJ!
I dont even think OJ was used properly
You've got that right.

John Rauch expected him to both catch passes out of the backfield and block for other running backs - UNLIKE when he was winning the Heisman at USC. And look what happened? They hired Saban and OJ became the first guy to rush for over 2,000 yards in an NFL season!! Yeah, so he whacked his ex-wife and her waiter friend, I'm not gonna lie and say the same thought didn't cross my mind with my ex.

Wait a minute ... are we back to the "two different Freddies" routine, again? 😁

Where ever there's BBQ, Bourbon & Football
I don't think we are going to abandon the things that began to bring in elite WR's, but I do think the pendulum is being pulled back a little bit on those things and getting back to the foundational component of the game of football and that's being physical. Rees is going to definitely pass the ball with all the talent we have at WR, but we are also friggin loaded at RB as well and it would be a travesty not to force teams to have to deal with that as well. Saban knew exactly what and who he wanted and got him. RTR!!!

Tua and Mac threw the ball well...but Nagee and others ran it well also. I think we will see a balanced attack...what has always won games. I hope that we are getting ready to see more TE utilization...if you look at UGA and at the Super Bowl teams, TE's play a dominant role in their offenses.

I am excited about what is before us....

Two Sabans
Two OJs

My kind of confusion.

Folks, it’s easier to understand my posts if you simply remember every day is Festivus for me.

I’ll support coach Rees and give him the line of credit every coach deserves. I wanted to shoot BoB with a high velocity stapler by mid-2021, but I didn’t call for his termination until October of 2022.

I’m a fair guy, no matter what my ex or several bowling alleys in Little Rock say.

I’m no Milroe fan…just wonder how this affects his stock.

It's good for all Qbs in the room. Milroe will benefit from him. He didn't have a true QB coach. Now he does.
I don't think a new OC will level the field as much as some think. We'll still be using the 'Bama playbook and terminology with the OC being able to add some here or there and make adjustments, but the guys who have been around for a while (Milroe and Simpson) will still be ahead in 'knowing' the system. I think Milroe will get a shot, but based on what we've seen, the new OC would have to be the best ever QB whisperer ever to get milroe truly ready by season start. He's got a lot of tools - they just need a lot of polish.

No kidding - where do you think Georgia ends up, this year or last, without Bowers? I’d bet even money not with a National Championship.

NC's are difficult and 3 in a row are virtually impossible. They will be in the mix...but so will several others. We have as good a chance as any due to our talent...if it comes together then we will be fine. Enjoy the journey...

The more I learn about this hire, the better I like it. The main thing being having a much more physically dominant brand of offense, but there's plenty more to be excited about. Coach Rees, being only 30 yrs old, will likely be here a long time, adding stability at the position. But this hire also insinuates to me that Coach Saban, by hiring such a young coach, isn't even thinking about retiring. I know, thats a little stretch to think about it like that, but thats something I pick up on this move. Roll Tide

He did some pretty outstanding stuff with backups at ND (due to injuries). Backups, I might add, who wouldn’t have made Bama’s roster even as backups. None had JM’s athleticism. As a former QB I think he helps JM’s passing - how much will determine who starts in the fall. JM could be JH, but he’s behind schedule because of two years with BoB. I don’t know if he has the same tenacity as JH, or the laser focus on being the best; his attitude doesn’t seem to be a problem. We will know a lot more in the fall, but I’m excited about the possibilities.

Agreed it's a high bar---even though Bama was one errant field goal away from a real shot of it with AJ McCarron. The thing is, Georgia (thanks partly to the SEC making them cancel their Oklahoma series) has an absurdly easy schedule this year, so they're just about guaranteed a trip to Atlanta for the SEC Championship.

From what I'm reading...

Saban wanted to hire Rees a couple of years ago as QB coach.

Kelly promoted Rees to OC at ND, so he stayed at ND rather than joining the staff at Bama.

Kelly wanted Rees to go with him to LSU as OC.

Those 3 things tell me Saban knows the potential in Rees and believes he will be a good fit for the Tide.

One more point...he's young and will likely be the OC for several years. I don't see him leaving Bama for another OC position and it will be a few years before he's viable as a HC candidate. That provides continuity for our offense.

All of that is good. I think this may turn out to be a really good hire.
This is what I needed to read.
