Francis?Thats good and all, but afew games in and the defenses will have tape on what Rees is trying to do with the talent available. After that formations will help, but reads and proper decisions will be what counts.

Does anyone remember if CNS ever said anything like this about BOB? I don't remember it happening...Saban after the Friday scrimmage speaking of Tommy Rees..... "Does a really good job with formations and how to use formations to create advantages for us on offense"
... been some time since I've heard that in describing our offense..
This is the only criticism of BoB, he always assumed the talent was even across both teams (NFL mindset), and he never used simple schemes to get one guy open, and then ride that horse until they stopped it, then find another horse to ride.Does anyone remember if CNS ever said anything like this about BOB? I think he did try to use a horse and ride it. The problem was he blindfolded the horse before the game and then the rider was strapped in backwards. At least, thats the way I saw it!This is the only criticism of BoB, he always assumed the talent was even across both teams (NFL mindset), and he never used simple schemes to get one guy open, and then ride that horse until they stopped it, then find another horse to ride.
Yeah, I think we all know NOW that schematic advantages were not BOB's strong suit. I was just curious if CNS ever mentioned anything like this about BOB before it played out that he was NOT good at creating advantages. This is the only criticism of BoB
BOB and Pete made 2 seasons feel like 9 seasons.BO’B had a horse. It’s name was Bryce. When that horse was lame he rode it anyway. When that horse was stabled he had no idea how to saddle and ride a different horse. BO’B doesn’t know much about equine versatility.
BOB didn't even know what type of race he was in, much less how to ride a horse to maximise what it could do.BO’B had a horse. It’s name was Bryce. When that horse was lame he rode it anyway. Primarily for roster management, imo.Nothing will be officially decided until both perform in a real game. There are too many controlled aspects of practice and scrimmages to get a real sense of which QB is the best. This competition will more than likely go into the first two to three games of the regular season.
I haven`t looked at the schedule lately, and my memory isn`t what it used to be, but assume UTw is one of those first three games (?). If so, HATE the thought of going into that game not knowing which QB gives us the best chance for success. I hope we`re actually further along than that by then.Nothing will be officially decided until both perform in a real game. I agree outside of the possibility one of them just epically fails.Nothing will be officially decided until both perform in a real game. Game #2. If they both play in game #1 and it's still not decided I figure the game against UTA at BDS will be a textbook game of pluck and grit featuring our running game.I haven`t looked at the schedule lately, and my memory isn`t what it used to be, but assume UTw is one of those first three games (?). They aren't going to make all the right decisions, but the ones you speak of are glaring. Hopefully we are on the right path.Might this be the year to give the QBs some live action in the scrimmages? I just hate the idea of waiting till the season starts to see who can handle game situations.
Who actually picks the QB1, Rees or CNS? I only asked because CNS was responsible for picking CBOB (who I think gets a bad rap) and Golding (his continued presence was inexplicable). Bryce never required any decision-making by the staff...he was just that good. We're not exactly batting 1.000 with recent decisions relating to the team.
At this level of football, scheming, the instincts of the OC wrt playcalling, talent, etc. It all counts.Thats good and all, but afew games in and the defenses will have tape on what Rees is trying to do with the talent available.
