Question: What Is Our Biggest Problem On Offense?

1) Proctor is young, inexperienced, and perhaps overweight but I think that he gets too much blame.

2) I have been quite critical of Milroe. He holds the ball too long and takes too long to make decisions.Still, I now think that he gets TOO much blame.

That leads me to what I now think the biggest problem is.....Rees at OC. I don't think that he does a good enough job of calling plays that suit Milroe's skillset and the same applies to the rest of the offense. I made my bucket list trip to Tuscaloosa to see the Arkansas game. There were receivers (and perhaps even more RBs) open all over the place. Milroe (who had numerous opportunities to run through big gaps) stands in the pocket too long. He should be throwing some quick outs. I HATE when he lobs passes to the sideline that increase the chance of an interception. I would like to see Milroe run some wildcat plays.

If Lane or Sark was the OC, we would have put up 40 or 50 points against the hogs. Even BOB would be doing a better job imo.

Oh and fwiw, our defense is spectacular, FAR better than last season in all 3 phases and deeper.

Sorry for the rant; I'm still a bit wound up from the trip, and thanks to the people of the State of Alabama for the great time and unforgettable hospitality! The above is jmo.

There's a handful of sacks that were Milroe's fault by either going backwards too far and not stepping up in the pocket, holding on to the ball too long, and not throwing the ball away when he was outside the pocket. Sometimes I don't know what Rees is doing. The quick slant was one of our go to plays and I have rarely seen it this year.

I don't think Milroe can hit those quick slants.

The Proctor blame is fair.

According to PFF he is responsible for 58% of the Sacks given up by the OL

1 guy… 58%

The stat was posted on here somewhere, I think its 10 sacks from the LT and 10 sacks from the QB.

LT is a huge issue. QB not reading the blitz or throwing to a hot route over the blitz or holding the ball too long or just not seeing the field and trying to take off too late....is just as big of a problem if not more than LT.

Honest question: If you saw open receivers and running backs and green grass in front of Milroe, why is it CTR's fault? Sounds like the plays he's calling work but there's a disconnect at QB.

I wish college football games had the "Prime Vision" that Thursday Night Football has. Would be interesting to see the all 22 and such

And our top 2 running backs are ordinary, not gamechangers. Of course, hard to change the game when the holes aren't there.

I will admit that not just one person/unit is to blame.

It's just a colossal failure by the whole offense and the only group that gets off the hook in my opinion is the wide receivers. We were told in the preseason they were the problem and the OL was the strength.

But truthfully, the OL, QB and RBs have all contributed to the overall struggle.

I'm not saying CTR is perfect. We know he's not, but if receivers are open he can't throw the ball from the pressbox.

My only suggestion is more short stuff on the edges to soften the bull rush. It'll depend on JM getting the ball out quickly, but if it's his only read it should be catch snap (which has been a struggle at times) and throw.

Bryce might be paralyzed or dead if he was playing behind this line.
Perhaps, perhaps not. Bryce was a scrambler. He was very good at getting out of trouble and creating plays. Milroe is a runner, who waits too log to take off imo. This is why I want some wildcat mixed in.

There is only one person to blame for our problems. CNS makes all of the decisions about who starts and who doesn't. Who gets pulled during a game. He approves the offensive and defensive game plans. If he doesn't like a play call all he has to do is tell Rees to change it. If a player is running his mouth all the time at the other team he can sit him and fix the problem. I love CNS and what he has done at Alabama. But when you get paid the kind of money he does, then you should shoulder the bad with the good.

Will not be a popular post. But true!

You are correct, PFF did a breakdown of quarterbacks that hold the ball the longest in the pocket and Milroe was dead last in the SEC. I think the OL has its issues, but they're not as bad as some think.
