Based on my armchair view, I just think none of those guys are worthy of being a long term option at Alabama. At least, I do not see that now. Steve and Lane, they are doing ok but Sark has been in Austin for a minute but still can't seem to help dropping games he surely should be winning. At least his recruiting is decent where Lane can't seem to do anything without the portal. Dan seems to be doing alright at Oregon but so did Mario and it seems both of those guys are making boneheaded decisions on the field too often. Look, I remember when LSU hired Saban and thought that was a head scratcher until he started getting all the best recruits and taking us down on a regular bases. So what do i know? To me, the next Bama coach has yet to reveal himself and that is a good thing since I'm still hoping Nick is at the Capestone for 5 or more years.
I'm not sure who really will be "worthy" once Saban decides to hang it up. No way anyone even comes close to replicating his success at Alabama. I was just pointing out that between the names you put out there (Lanning, Kiffin, Sark, and Steele), Steele wasn't the best choice based on their head coaching accomplishments. I think he's a very good coordinator, but not so sure he would be a very good or even decent HC.

I dig, I guess I was being sarcastic to an extent. A lot of folks are high on Lane and Steve but I am not at all. Dan? Way too early to tell. My view was that if I had my rathers then I'd take Kevin just as much as I would any of those other guys. You are right though. Ain't no replacing Coach. That is why every time I see that subject come up I cringe like nails on a chalkboard. Just want to enjoy this ride as long as I possibly can.

I think Lanning is a definite option...........in the long run he may very well be the one Bama calls

“In fact, most people I know hate Bama and won’t even watch the playoffs if they are in it because they know they are corrupt.”

My favorite part. Dude probably it needs to take a break from the internet.
None, except the hamburgers I cooked
Hey Buddy...I wanted one of those Burgers. I could have also brought some Famous Dave's
Hepuel is still complaining about the officials. Seems he was processed.
He admitted Bama whipped them in the 2nd half...but acted like a spoiled child in his Press conference.

Refs are just bad. They miss holds all the time. They didn't throw a flag on Burton kicking a guy but they also didn't throw a flag when our guy got punched.

Also, I'm finding the full on meltdown the Vol fans are having pretty hilarious. You'd think the game ended on a last second play that the refs got wrong instead of us winning by 14 and shutting them out in the 2nd half.
The truth is that football is becoming basketball in which no one admits that they lost without the qualifier of the refs, injuries, or coordinator costed us. I mean reading this board for years… I have come to the conclusion that there are many that believe the only game we legitimately lost since 2011 is the 2018 Clemson game.

If someone really wants to see what rigging feels like then watch a baseball game in which the home plate umpire has a different strike zone each half inning. Officials costing teams games happens far more in that sport than any other and it’s not even close. In football if you leave the game in the hands of the officials then you deserve to lose. I mean heck…. we probably lost last year’s Tennessee game more because of a bone headed muff punt that we did than any of the 17 flags we got. Take that one play out of the game and we win by double digits and the streak is at 17 today.

My point is that people obsess over refs to the point where you wonder why anyone watches the game. Because you can go to 13 SEC board and they are complaining about refs when we win the exact same way we do when we lose.

Nope - Clemson was stealing your signs in that game.
Yeah but it’s one of the few times I’ve seen the majority here admit we got owned. Sure the sunshine pumpers were spinning the crap out of possible explanations but there were a few here that were actually worried about the possibility of getting owned after seeing Aranda, MSU, and Georgia expose Tua and Locksley late in the year.

But the point remains… there is a large portion of Bama fans that are very slow to give credit to their opponent beating Bama over blaming refs, injuries, and bad coaching hires.

Or...you can watch KoolAid intercept a pass in the end zone and run all the way to the 41 yd line until the opposite corner Ref throws a PI flag. But yeah, I watch a bit of Baseball and I agree about strike zones. But if you watch the replays you can see they get it right most times. I do wonder about baseline umps who say a batter did or did not swing over the plate sometimes. That can change everything in a tight game with only 1 inning left.

I think he is a bit like Orgeron when he thinks he needs to massage his fanbase. Heuple knows that the more he whines about refs the more the fanbase will buy into it. UT fans are mostly rabid. There are lots of sensible and reasonable vol fans, but Brother there are several busloads of morons who are over the top, and you will run into them everywhere you go. But when their coaches lose to Bama...their coaches soon go Doug Barfield Or Ed Orgeron mode. They lost. Ready to move on myself. UT has a good team. I look forward to next year. Gonna beat them in Knoxville. He better get worried about Georgia.

Bad call, but still… if we don’t muff a punt that we had no business of fielding then that play would have never mattered. There are several single plays in which they went differently then the refs would have never mattered.

I just don’t accept this narrative that the game was rigged that many have accepted. Most of our flags in that game were legit and weren’t judgement calls. I still believe that not making halftime adjustments on defense and special teams putting us in holes in the 1st quarter played far more of a factor than the zebras. Did Tennessee get some home cooking… sure, but they also were a very good team playing at a high level at the time. It was a badly officiated game but still we didn’t do ourselves any favors with our play on the field either.

I often wonder why the good Coordinators want to be HCs...Seems like a major league migraine IMO.

Good points...and not that you are...but no one can convince me that the calls in that game weren't over the top. I recall that muff, and you are correct. 2 bad things happened there. Worse yet....we still have Special Teams errors going on. That will be fixed soon I think. We may not see #1 receiving punts again. Something going on there.
