Bama getting no respect

But again you can’t argue with the end result in mind when it’s the decision after week 14 is the only thing that really matters. The results afterwards should not factor into it.

The part you bolded isn't the key part. It's the next sentence. "On field results never tell the entire story", which is absolutely true. Yes, UGA beat Bama on the field, but that doesn't tell the whole story. You can't sit here and tell me UGA beats us in the title game if we're at full strength.

I can tell you it isn't clear we wouldn't have split 10 games five to five that year, even with both teams at full strength. A rematch often goes the other way for various reasons. Alabama was better than they showed against LSU in the 2011 season, and LSU was better than they showed in the championship game.

We led in the 4th quarter of the title game. With Metchie and Jamo, we destroy them again.

Then why aren’t you applying the same rationale to 2018…. Why is Georgia getting in 2021 but not 2018. Same exact arguments of SOS and eye test, and same exact belief that a rematch would produce a different outcome.

Well if colt didn’t get hurt then Texas would have a nc in 2009 because they were leading when he went out.

after over a decade of making fun of Texas using an injury excuse it’s unfathomable to have ever thought Alabama fans would revert to the same thing . I guess Ohio St 2014 never got the memo after their top 2 qbs went out of the Philadelphia eagles forgot about it when they won the SB.

It's sickening the way things happen but we can't really know with certainty what would have happened. Alabama had 5 one-score games in 2021, and came out on top of all of them. Georgia crapped the bed in the SECC and came ready to play the next time, and it so happened to coincide with Alabama injuries.

2018 UGA wasn't playoff worthy. Are you thinking of a different year?

You know as well as I do Texas had no chance of beating Bama in 2009. It's a false equivalency.

Oh okay. But I thought you said “best 4 teams”. It’s kinda hard to argue against a team that had the 9th best SOS getting jumped by the 31st and 13th best SOS.

So how was Georgia in 2018 not a better team than Notre Dame and Oklahoma? If we are going to say 2 losses don’t give “context” in 2022 then how in the world are you saying Georgia doesn’t belong in over Notre Dame and Oklahoma? You could argue that they probably could have beaten Bama if not for a stupid 4th down try. So they lost a close game to the #1 team.

My larger point is that “best” is subjective at best (no pun intended) and that living and dying off SOS is about as faulty as living and dying off the eye test. Deserving is probably the more optimal word that they should have used as it creates more of a criteria that could be understood and followed.

Then who were the 4 “best teams” in 2018.

My point in bringing up the 2018 Georgia team was that even after Alabama beat them there was still a very legitimate argument until 11am the next day that they were one of the 4 best teams in the country. They had a very impressive SOS and lost in a game that could have gone either way to Alabama. The reason they didn’t get in was because Oklahoma avenged their 1 loss and ND was undefeated.

Meanwhile the 2021 Georgia gets absolutely blown out by Alabama and is still considered one of the 4 best teams. Why with a laughable SOS???? Because they were going against Cincinnati and a ND team that was beaten at home by Cincinnati.

What I am trying to get you to admit is that “best” in the context they are saying it really means “most deserving”. Wins and losses carry far more weight in the committee era than they ever did in the BCS era. I’m not saying in either 2018 or 2021 they got it wrong, but in both cases they never chose the 4 BEST teams.

It's pretty crazy we that we don't actually control own destiny right now. Like I keep saying, it's simply unthinkable that we could be undefeated in the SEC including a win over UGA in the SECCG and might get left out. If you told anyone on this forum before the season began "You will lose to Texas in week 2 and win the rest of your games but not make the playoff", you would have been branded a crazy person. I still can't believe this is reality.

If someone had told me "you will win the rest of your games" in week 3, I would have branded them a crazy person
