Seriously, WHY do we always play like that in JHS?

1997 blame should be on Bruce Arians or whoever called that God awful screen play with the game won, not Ed.
Auburn was the better team that year. but yeah, it was 3rd and 8 . You can’t really fault the call , it was set up well, but poorly executed as the guard missed the block. I guess on the other hand, you did have Shaun Alexander at your disposal, so maybe run off tackle or quick toss. funny thing, in Today’s game it would be an incomplete pass as there was no football move. Back then if receiver had firm possession for a count it was a catch. Last game I attended in JHS.

A lot of people downplay this, but Auburn was basically willing to sacrifice a game just to have a better shot at beating Alabama.

Auburn coaches understand that their job security is tied up in this game, the rest of the season really doesn't mean that much.
Nutshell. You`re not going to lose your job at Auburn with an occasional odd loss to a New Mexico State, not if you can beat Alabama. You`ll never get me to believe that two wins against us, at another school, wasn`t the reason that he`s the head coach at Auburn today. Knowing that reality, hell, I`d spend practice time each week from mid-season on ( or earlier! ) preparing for Alabama.

Auburn is just another game to Alabama and we get away with that mentality in Tuscaloosa because Auburn will barely bring 15k fans for their team to feed off of and we just keep scoring.

At JHS the crowd is on you and only gets crazier if they think they can win late. I seriously think had we scored on that second drive then we probably would have never needed any late heroics. Auburn probably would’ve folded and the game would have been effectively over.

You have to give it to Auburn… they know how to make a hostile environment better than most.

One more theory I will float. We practiced a lot on Georgia this week the way Auburn practiced on us in their NMSU week. Anyone?🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️Anyone?
Doubtful. More likely, we got a little complacent after they lost by almost 3 TDs to NMSU. If anyone was looking ahead to UGA, it was the film analyst guys who aren’t on-field coaches.

Their players were dancing and prancing on the sidelines, their rabid fans were in a frenzy and the stadium looked like a rock concert. Basically, it was their Super Bowl, National Championship, and season all wrapped up in one venue. As we have said over and over again, auburn exists to beat Alabama.

Adrenalin does amazing things in the human body...

The officals were awful tonight, but any fan from EITHER side could lobby massive complaints.

It's ridiculous how bad the officiating is in the SEC.

I am curious about SEC officals and grading of the game. I have heard it referred to several times on tv and radio broadcast about the SEC officals in Bham reviewing the video of the game and grading the performance of the crew. Can anyone share any valid information as to how that process happens and what are the results of the grading. Why would I be surprised if all of that information was confidential to the SEC and will never see the light of day.

this makes ripping out their black, shriveled hearts and showing it to them so much sweeter

They also get 99% of the calls from the officials, in pretty much every game ever played in that cesspool. It really is quite mind-boggling. Multiple years of evidence, with multiple crews, against multiple opponents. I don’t know what it is about that place.

i firmly believe refs are paid off .. for multi billion dollar industry hard to see anything else

Bama just hasnt upped their game related to this

I really think it would take a protest outside the SEC office to get the Autrey crew out of football. Something must be done. They are so bad you have to seriously consider they are compromised...
If I had any doubt, the extremely extended review of the reception, showing his shoe clearly with green between it and the white convinced me...

Honestly, their crowd is loud and intense. Way more than Bryant-Denny although we made some progress this year. A lot of journalists say J-H is one of the top environments in the country. So that helps a lot. I don't know how well our staff fires up the team. Maybe they do a great job of it but I suspect not. Also, I think the voodoo stuff gets in the team's head a little bit. I mean how do you explain always going down there with a far better team and pretty much always crapping up. We've won the last two but very shaky and far beneath expectations. Everybody in the world predicted Auburn would not even cover the 13.5 point spread.

I’m shocked they didn’t make up an OPI on Bond’s catch.

I was seeing red the remainder of the game following that call against Burton.

They also totally ignored a potential safety and pick 6 in the final 2 plays.

Neither play would have held up but they didn’t even think about looking at them.

don't forget the fight that broke out.

I think recently it’s bc that stadium is only second to lsu’s when it’s rocking and they get the absolute biggest sweetheart treatment from officials of any team in the sec. When they’re on the road sure it’s nothing out of the ordinary but the way the officials bend over backwards at jhs is wild. Those two things plus the fact Saban teams really do get tight and go on tilt at least a couple times a year….its just a perfect storm of absurdity. Anytime we talk about how we’re going to dominate or we’re gonna do this or that we fall flat on our faces

Auburn’s crowd impact is mostly because of the culture at Auburn and how the stadium is built. Alabama is a whine and cheese country club society crowd where as Auburn is a redneck 10 kegger at belcher’s hollow after Rusty raided the firework stand.
