Actually a safe hire. Not sure what he can do at College Station. Feels like their Shula hire tho.... I suspect they will stay Texas 8&4 for awhile.

At some point, the firing and hiring process of coaches becomes a "dance of the lemons"! Coaches are fired for bad performance, only to be hired by another school.
It is very comical how the higher ups and big pocket boosters at these universities keep getting played by these agents. It's also very sad how our society prioritizes these forms of entertainment.

Hmmmm…..
Signed Jimbo Fisher to a 10-year, $95 million, fully guaranteed contract after the 2020 season.

Less than three seasons later, fire Fisher and pay a buyout of over $75 million.

Get turned down by multiple candidates.

Offer Mike Stoops. Then withdraw the offer because of backlash from fans.

Hire Mike Elko away from Duke. Yes….Duke.

Sounds like a saga from Auburn.

They are an even more cultish group than Auburn, with tons more money.

This really bums me out. Elko is a solid coach. What he did at duke was pretty incredible. I didn’t think he’d leave duke by the way he was talking all year but it would appear it was just talk. He’s gonna do well there I think. If they give him space to operate

I’m more perplexed aTm thought Mark Stoops was the answer in the first place. Sure, he has won at Kentucky, but at the same time…has he really?
I think Mark Stoops is exactly the kind of coach they need and they weren't smart enough to see it.

What's he's done at KY with less fan support, $$$ and platform is amazing IMO.

He could build a powerhouse at ATM with the style of play he's implemented at KY. It might be CNS 2008 2.0 type stuff but he could win a lot of game with that in the SEC right now.

Because texas 8&4 has shown the ability to do this.
