Low joined the Paul Finebaum Show to explain exactly why Saban decided to retire. The message from Saban has been constant throughout — if he felt like he could not give Alabama 100% for 100% of the time, he would walk away. Saban was not going to be taking any shortcuts just because of who he was.

On 3 article on Facebook, pretty much spells it out. He can’t give Alabama 100%\100% so he’s stepping aside.

I didn’t think today would be the day. Having to replace a DC at the same time isn’t good. Still, I can’t thank Coach Saban enough, although I’m shocked he’s not retiring on top.

With the mega conferences forming and larger playoffs winning a championship is going to be even more of a crapshoot.

If I recall correctly his grandson is around 5 years old so I expect to see a totally dominant peewee football team emerge in a couple of years from now.
