The “chatter” among many of Saban’s former players is that Lanning is the next coach. The only one I’m placing a lot of stock in is Barrett Jones, primarily based on some of his connections.
The risks are high, but so are the rewardsImagine following in the footsteps of a historic figure like Saban and then facing probably the most difficult season in modern football history.
Saban was an outsider when he was hiredAs soon as the next coach drops a game he's not supposed to, there will be a faction of the fan base that will say it was a bad hire, we hired an outsider, etc
He wouldn't qualify in any industry. And Greg Byrne had to handle a lot of the fallout ...Yes. From what I've heard he is what you might consider not eligible for rehire. He's my favorite, though.
If it is him maybe he can bring Schumann on as the DC.The “chatter” among many of Saban’s former players is that Lanning is the next coach. The only one I’m placing a lot of stock in is Barrett Jones, primarily based on some of his connections.
You mean like losing to Louisiana-Monroe?As soon as the next coach drops a game he's not supposed to, there will be a faction of the fan base that will say it was a bad hire, we hired an outsider, etc

And he lost to ULM in 2007. I'm glad we resisted our basest instincts as a fanbase.S

They better name him soon or Bama will lose a ton of players. If the fact someone is already selected is just rumor, a floundering coaching search will set Bama back years. This was not a spur of the moment decision. Knowing Saban, the wheels have been turning for a while behind the scene. Don't think he would leave abruptly without some sort of plan. I believe they have their man. We shall see.
He would have gotten canned the first week in my old industryHe wouldn't qualify in any industry. And Greg Byrne had to handle a lot of the fallout ...
Saban made a statementDoes anyone besides me think it's weird that the university hasn't made an announcement and CNS hasn't made a statement? He's already met with the team. The story has broken. Why the delay in announcing? Are they waiting for white smoke from the Vatican?
And a new OL coachIf it is him maybe he can bring Schumann on as the DC.
