Who is Saban's replacement?

If Lanning had sustained success for 2 more years, I would say he was a no brainer, but Alabama isn’t the place to learn on the job. Lane is a no for me, love the guy…at Ole Miss but not Bama. His quirky style, so so HS recruiting and Twitter stuff tells me no.
Sark may be a good candidate. And before Anyone says he wouldn't leave Austin , it’s on the interwebs that Quinn Ewers will not be the Texas starter if he comes back. Big money paid Arch millions to be the man, and Sark wanted him, so… If shorthorn boosters are interfering already in coaching decisions like they did with Mack Brown, Steve may be looking for the exit.
I totally agree. Interference from the political ranks can turn off a good coach.

I’ve got this feeling the “interview” notion is just a formality. Rodney Orr stated that the BoT has know about this since the Rose Bowl, maybe even before. I’m not buying this “I just found out at 2 pm today” stuff from Byrne.

Lanning was most likely earmarked for the position by Coach Saban.

If the choice is either Lanning or Kiffin I guess I'd have to lean toward Lanning. I was troubled a bit however by Lanning costing his Oregon team a win against Washington in their first meeting due to hyper-aggressive play calling by passing up FG's to go for it on 4th down but maybe he's learned from that mistake. Kiffin is hyper-aggressive also though and could cost us a game or two by gambling too much. Lanning gets the edge IMO because he has a defensive background and given the last 3 NCG's were won by teams built on a strong defense that's probably the way to go. I'm not sure how committed Kiffin is to a strong defense since he's an offensive genius. He hired Golding and Ole Miss didn't really make any significant improvement defensively in 2023.

I didn’t really pay attention to Oregon’s play this year. I did like how Lanning made them physical. What kind of O was he running? Classic Oregon basketball stuff or Pro/spread like Bama?

We've been lucky man. But luck runs out and that is certainly where we are now. May take us a decade or so but we will climb back on top with luck.
Oh, please stop it. You keep posting the same thing over and over. You sound like a troll, though I know you're not. I think you are wrong, but even if you are right, why are you doing this? Over and over and over. We've got it on the 35th try - you think Alabama is dead.

Lanning has shown he can recruit, he can win games, he has sec experience, and he’s young. And he’s a realistic hire (unlike ryans or smart). Seems obvious first choice.

Sark and Norvell also make some sense. Sark probably not available though.
