I believe they have known for some time as well.................probably since the beginning of the seasonI’ve got this feeling the “interview” notion is just a formality. Rodney Orr stated that the BoT has know about this since the Rose Bowl, maybe even before. I’m not buying this “I just found out at 2 pm today” stuff from Byrne.
Lanning was most likely earmarked for the position by Coach Saban.
He needs a good DC at Bama..............not sure Tosh would be a good oneThere are a few Bama boys on that staff.
that's almost twice as long as michigan had in the college football spotlight after their win monday night. so there's thatThis may go down as one of the longest 72 hours in history
so, there's a chance we can get traeshon holden back?If Lanning comes to Bama then the Oregon players would also have 30 days to transfer .
Maybe... but the average turnaround for Byrne for hiring a new coach after one leaves or is fired is 2 days. Meaning Byrne isnt one to waste time, and in pretty much every case has one already picked out.Byrne talks as though they are still looking...............I think this is a smokescreen to head off speculation
Looking for a new coach
I'd agree with that................I think the biggest worry is keeping the recruits, and some are scared Sayin will leave, but I think Saban probably reached out to all of them and they will stay. I look for the new coach to hit the ground running and talk to all of the signeesMaybe... but the average turnaround for Byrne for hiring a new coach after one leaves or is fired is 2 days. I think Byrne is trying to give Saban his victory lap, and trying to make it seem less like something that they have been planning on for awhile.

I think we will know by the end of this weekend how much of a plan was in play or not. If Sayin bolts there's your answer, if the next coach is hired by end of business day Friday and he stays, odds are there was def a plan in place.I'd agree with that................I think the biggest worry is keeping the recruits, and some are scared Sayin will leave, but I think Saban probably reached out to all of them and they will stay. I think Saban had a hand in picking his replacement
Agreed, had to be a plan in place. No way he's walking out of that program and leaving them in a bad spot. Most likely.
If Saban told players to expect a replacement to be in place in the next 72 hours, then it would seem there must have been a plan in the works prior to yesterday afternoon at 2:00 pm.
Just my personal opinion, but I think that a plan was in place, and Saban made the rounds and let the players know...................and told them to hold the course. I know Sayin said he came to Bama because of Saban, but I dont think he will leave. In fact, I think he sticksI think we will know by the end of this weekend how much of a plan was in play or not. I look for Bama to do great things in the near future...............not throwing in the towelIt's our class we just signed I'm alittle worried about. The rest have accumulated to Bama and for the most part should be fine. It's not who the coach will be, it's that it's not Saban. But we were always going to have to face that when Saban left. We all, players and fans, just have to open the next chapter of the book. No reason it can't be outstanding also.
Players and parents today are as fickle as ever so who knows what they'll do? If we land Lanning or Kiffin I doubt we lose hardly anybody, if any. If we hire someone not in the vein of these two it may get ugly wrt this recent class. But it is what it is.It's our class we just signed I'm alittle worried about.
