I know everyone want to do different things with portal but there is still rules and regulations with attending a college and being a student as well that factor in. The players right now have to make a pretty fast decision because the start of the college semesters. They have to get unenrolled at their current university and then enrolled in their new one buy the end of drop add day at each university. You can’t be enrolled or even were enrolled at that date at one of the schools for spring semester and participate in spring activities at another. So after Thursday none of the Alabama guys could transfer to another school and start practicing with that team til after the Spring semester is over and the start of summer/fall starts. That would make it very difficult on player as they would be way behind everyone else. A lot of times high school kids try to enroll by spring semester for this exact reason to learn the system and get started in spring and nit wait til summer.
Pretty sure drop/add day is tomorrow for Alabama, without receiving a “W”. Students can still withdraw until 27 MAR but will receive a “W” on their transcript. Not entirely sure how that would work for fully disenrolling from school…

They the NCAA have collectively been trying to figure out how to neutralize Saban and his work ethic for over a decade. They exhausted all options except one. BURN DOWN COLLEGE FOOTBALL AS WE KNOW IT. They broke the glass and pulled the lever...

Just a few years ago CNS was catching unmitigated hell for not offering guaranteed 4 year scholarships. Then it became “total cost of attendance.” Then it was the transfer portal. Then it was NIL. The only way to fix this is make the players employees of the University of their respective schools. Cap that salary and all should be well. The kicker for that is Title IX which I’m not sure even exists anymore. This is a complete mess. Top tier D1 athletics need to form a 64 team league, manage it correctly, and blow the NCAA up.

Pretty sure having a W on their transcript doesn’t mean anything to most of these guys. The only thing they really need to know is what the enrollment deadline is at whatever school they plan to transfer to.

They don`t even blink at any of this academically related stuff. This is all positioning for business purposes. Maybe not for ALL of them, but for a depressingly high %, I think. This farcical label of " student athlete " just needs to die a deserved death. It`s laughable and insulting that it continues to be even mentioned IMHO.

Never really thought of it that way, but yeah......and they`ve created a train wreck.

Oklahoma literally had their whole starting roster transfer out when Riley left them high and dry. We really aren’t that unique in this situation of dealing with a mass exodus and poaching. I think considering everything we have done better than what most would have thought. Heck who knows this may be a way to trim the fat and find out who really wants to win and be at Bama.
Well our coach retired, he didn’t leave for another job.

From someone who supposedly knows a player on the team (from BOL), as of last night he told him this:
1. Caleb Downs is staying
2. Proctor wants to transfer--he's homesick
3. Bama will be getting 2 CB's, a WR, and a Center from Washington.
I think the "good news" CKD spoke about at the basketball game is probably the players he knows that will transfer from Washington.

And the starting center might be the biggest of these although that receiver can probably easily soften the blow IB's leaving made.

THAT is exactly what is happening!

If #1 turns out to be true and CB from UW enrolls at UA then we're in great shape on the back end of our defense.

I work for a university and it doesn’t matter if you are student athlete or just regular student. It seems half the students think a W is an actual grade on their transcript with a lot of students. It used to be rare to see a W on a transcript but not anymore they are all over the transcripts now.

The "rumor" about Proctor may be just that, but let's face it, he is going to have to make some strides to be #1LG on an OL that is going to have to be elite pass blockers.

I know he made strides last year, but I think he's got to trim down and get a lock quicker/more consistent.
