Looking at Mack now, he has the leg up in spring. He's been in DeBoers system for a year. He knows the calls and how they want things done.
For the record, the two versions of events I posted that people are speculating about are not actually my initial interpretation. My initial impression was more simplistic, they got Mack to create depth but in doing so pushed Sayin out, who saw it as a sign of disrespect. That was just speculation, but so is the idea Sayin said he wanted out. Supposedly some "insiders" claimed Sayin was told the staff prefers Mack but that's also unverified.
Certainly one of those is somewhat accurate, but yes no one knows for sure right now but it was bad optics to accept the Mack commitment prior to Sayin hitting the portal. In the least it lead some people, myself included to draw certain conclusions.
No, but I hold his 30 something ranked incoming recruiting class (worse than his predecessor did) at Washington against him. He wasn't reloading at a sufficient rate.
As to the rest, I do think anything that involves persuading a player to be on your team is an aspect of recruiting. Some are better at it than others. So to me it's kind of elementary to conclude a better persuader will persuade better.
Just an outside thought, but can you imagine what the pressure on Kirby Smart will be to win the Alabama game next year after all of this? If he doesn't...
Not trying to monopolize this, but I missed editing that post. Someone showed a Twitter post indicated he did have a Washington offer, while the 247 page or whatever I viewed didn't show one. So seems that was inaccurate. I found the post and edited, don't want to promote inaccuracies.maybe they know something we don't??
The QB competition should be really good this time around..............I think TS and Lonergan will do well too.Looking at Mack now, he has the leg up in spring. He's been in DeBoers system for a year. He knows the calls and how they want things done.
I’m pretty sure Grubb won’t look like a patient in the waiting room at the dentist knowing he’s about to have a root canal. RTRIn my opinion, Grubb & CKD will be considerable upgrade over Rees. If true, that is very short-sighted of Sayin.
In 2018, we had the most “me†position coaches and coordinators in any year during Saban ‘s tenure. That was a disaster waiting to happen, IMO.Could not agree more. The loss to Clemson was shocking, not as much the final score but the fact that prior to halftime he looked like he had already given up, though the game was in reach. I had never seen that before. That game did not change him but he had already begun to change. Don't know what it was or precisely when but it had already begun and would continue to manifest itself in many ways. If I were forced to guess, the incredible turnover on his staff was the primary precipitator. It just wore him out and he began to settle and just stumbled into Sarkisian, Flood and a few others.
With that in mind, this new staff looks far far better. If there is anyone left to play next year, they will be far better coached than the last 6 years.
If the quotes are accurate it's from multiple insiders.
I for one was uneasy when I saw Mack committed. I mean you have Sayin, what do you need another QB for?
So in the very least we know the staff was more concerned about the QB situation than others might have been.
In either case, calling him a brat for leaving after another QB was brought in seems a bit unwarranted.
For the record, never said he couldn't coach.
If he does it’s going to be a long 2 or 3 seasons before the next coaching change.I’m pretty sure Grubb won’t look like a patient in the waiting room at the dentist knowing he’s about to have a root canal. RTR
Maybe someone will share this with the departing 5*I'm not very inclined to sit by and watch someone get called names based on assumptions that might not be accurate.
We don't know why Sayin left for sure right now. Even JessN was very noncommittal in his post about it.
This much is certain right now. It's not obvious he left for more money. It's not obvious he left for any reason that should cause others to sit in judgement of him.
Having said that, I was too hasty with the initial information I got about the scholarship offer. I don't know how DeBoer feels about Sayin and I should heed my own words on that until something more concrete emerges.
And go watch the video of his HS coach breaking down the plays than ran, what the QB was watching for and the progressions he should go thru and it's very likely he's more advanced than last year's starter in not just the CKD/Grubb scheme but reading defenses in general.Looking at Mack now, he has the leg up in spring. He's been in DeBoers system for a year. He knows the calls and how they want things done.
I can’t wait for that one. Hopefully, it’s a night game and we’re both undefeated. The pressure is all on them and especially smart. RTRJust an outside thought, but can you imagine what the pressure on Kirby Smart will be to win the Alabama game next year after all of this? If he doesn't...
What BamaMoon posted!NOBODY on this board has been more excited about Julian Sayin than me.
But I'm only slightly surprised.
Y'all repeat it with me. "It's going to be OK."
