From NIL rules

First, a name, image, and likeness (NIL) agreement without a quid pro quo is impermissible. Athletes must provide something in exchange for the receipt of compensation. Second, compensation cannot be premised on an athlete’s participation or achievement related to his or her athletic ability. Third, colleges and universities cannot directly provide compensation in exchange for the use of an athlete’s NIL. Finally, NIL compensationu cannot be made contingent upon an athlete’s enrollment at a particular school.

Yeah, but who is there to enforce this anyways...🤔🙄

oh I know it’s against the rules but the rules will either change or there will be back door deals. The rules have been broken constantly and no real repercussions so far. One assistant coach got a 3 game suspension but that has been the most severe punishment so far and that’s nothing to schools. Trust me donors are not going to stand for putting money in to players to have them leave. Money and donors really run college football.

That’s why I said I think NIL contracts are coming and I have a feeling these donors are going to put in 3 year clauses that if they don’t stick around then they forfeit parts of it or have to pay buyouts to leave.

FSU is on 2 year probation, although I haven’t seen the particulars of what that entails.

He’s kind of like a mild circus geek who is in social media posts swilling beer and yelling “Roll Tide” and generally representing the state and school as a bunch of inbred morons.

Other than that, he’s great.

Wow! Judgmental much? It's obvious Willie has some mental deficiencies, but he seems like a good person, and he loves Bama, so I have no issues with him becoming a social media "star". Chad, the guy that makes the videos with him, obviously cares about Willie's well-being and makes sure he is taken care of.

I would LOVE to see that. NCAA has got to make adjustments and, as much as I am not a fan of federal mandates (all I will say so we don’t get bounced to non-sports) I think something will have to be done at that level to keep states from passing laws that unbalance the playing field or undermine the rules.

The fact that numerous recruits quote Willie should show you that it’s more of a positive than a negative.

The issue is if one schools boosters do that and the other school in consideration does not have any clause, guess where the player goes?

Only a governing body can fix this. But since this falls to boosters and not schools the NCAA has not authority over the issue.

If, by wasted, you mean did not win a championship, I agree. But we were one play away from winning a championship 2 years in a row, so he has been no more a failure over that span than Saban.

Ryan Day is a top 5 coach entering the 2024 season. So I really don’t know who Alabama and Ohio St fans think would instantly take Ohio St higher.

Has anyone else considered the possibility that NIL could be used to work around scholarship limitations? If a school’s numbers are tight, what’s stopping that school/boosters/collective from using NIL money to cover the costs of what a full athletic scholarship would cover?

Great question!
