Question: Border crisis looming, what should be done?

And I am terribly surprised that she offers no evidence for most of her claims and none for the more spurious claims.

Guess you missed the link in her "Op-Ed" to this NBC News article from Jan. 8:

Secretary of State Antony Blinken went to Mexico to meet with Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador to ask for greater assistance. Those conversations were “preliminary,” the officials said, and did not result in hard promises from either side.

In a press conference on Friday, López Obrador called on the U.S. to approve a plan that would deploy $20 billion to Latin American and Caribbean countries, suspend the U.S. blockade of Cuba, remove all sanctions against Venezuela and grant at least 10 million Hispanics living in the U.S. the right to remain and work legally.

🤷‍♂️

Note that I prefaced my post with the term "Op-Ed".

That means Opinion Editorial.

The key word being "Opinion".

Go back to posts #142 and #143 in this thread if you want to see:

"no evidence for most of her claims and none for the more spurious claims."
and
"language is also non-biased and non-inflammatory"

when the word "Latinos" was inserted by *someone* with this banner atop their X page......

1500x500

😄

Not familiar with the last part and don't understand the relevance.

But she does make some claims that are...out there.

Like that Biden is "begging".

But her "interpretation" of those events is inflammatory - and intentionally so.

And her deceptive way of delivery with that calls into question the rest of what she says.

I know you know it's an op-ed piece. That wasn't the point of what I said.

That point is basically that she is an extremist on immigration using extremist language.

But she knows her audience.

Did you not see the linked NBC News article?

And of course she has a bias. Like most of the media.....that's how they pay the light bill. It's called "spin".

Which is why I MADE SURE to preface my post with "Op-Ed"

Meh, no point.

No one called for genocide, but that didn't stop many people from claiming otherwise.

Op-Ed:

The border is a mess right now.

It's the #1 issue of Americans right now.

And the #1 issue of voters.

You can make all the statements you want. All the claims you want. Blame whomever you want.

But the bottom line is "stuff" isn't getting done......and whomever is occupying the White House is the one getting the majority of the blame.

Regardless of how congress fits into all of this, the president has the bully pulpit and IMHO he could/should be getting up in front of the folks and addressing things in a non-partisan way telling American he is going to get this mess fixed one way or another.

I could go on about what else could be done but I have some tennis to watch right now.......

No offense to anyone here.

The economy continues to dominate as the most important issue facing the country, followed by preserving democracy, according to the latest NPR/PBS NewsHour/Marist poll.

President Joe Biden said that the southern border hasn’t been secure for the “last 10 years,” a response he gave before addressing a bipartisan group of mayors at the White House on Friday.

When asked by Fox News White House Correspondent Jacqui Heinrich if the U.S.-Mexico border is secure, Biden said, “No, it’s not.”

“I haven’t believed that for the last 10 years, and I’ve said it for the last 10 years. Give me the money.”

Huh. And all this time, Mayorkas has been insisting that the border is totally secure. Did Joe go off-script or is Mayorkas as full of crap as we thought he was? Also, how will KJP spin this?

She will spin it by not answering the question. That's what all press secretaries and politicians do. They just answer a question that wasn't asked. There must be some secret class about this. I'm gonna start trying it myself. It seems to work.
