Current (unofficial) projected 3-deep depth chart

Remember that a lot of us thought the same thing about Tyler Buchner. He knew Reese’s system and should hit the ground running. Then we watched the South Florida game.

But the question is, did you watch it? LOL! There's bad blocking then there's what was obviously going on in the USF game. We had a team that appeared to be throwing a game because the guy they wanted behind center wasn't behind center. That was the most pitiful attempt at looking like you're trying to block but you're really not I've seen in a long time. Once Ty Simpson and Roydell got in there it got a lot better. Granted, far from perfect, but more like an OL that was trying than the crapshow effort that was given when Buchner was in there.

That is 100% correct. Probably one of the main reasons our Coach retired.

My question is why didn't the entire line get pulled then? Nick circa 2015 would not have stood for that disrespect and selfishness.

I get he did not want to lose the team, but I'm hoping we learn a bit more about the culture decline at Bama these past couple years.

Because 2023 "Nick" had become nothing like 2015 "Nick" regarding temperament. I highly doubt we ever get any of this speculation confirmed or denied. There's just nothing productive that could come out of Saban saying one way or the other, so my guess is we'll never know unless someone else on staff or on the roster decides to publicly talk about it.

for the 100th time. It was NOT Rees' system. It was the Alabama system. Rees' had to learn it and the new terminology, as did Buchner. He had ZERo advantage of knowing anything about it before he walked in...
