My biggest issue with Milroe is his fans that believe that he is clearly the best quarterback on staff and use stupid metrics like Heisman voting and stats that really don’t tell a good quarterback from a Mickey Mouser.
But my biggest concern with Milroe isn’t his ability to read defenses it’s the thought that he may believe he doesn’t have to. I’ve seen Milroe in 5 closed to the public scrimmages and each time Milroe is the exact same guy as he was at the previous ones. He constantly has the worst day and he looks like a freshman trying to be a college quarterback. Granted there are bad practice guys who wake up for the game but it’s very rare. I just get the impression that the Milroe that is talking about Heismans after escaping a horrible Auburn team, the Milroe shooting off his mouth and throwing his helmet in Pasadena, and the Milroe having horrible body language during A day is the real Milroe based on his lack of improvement over 3 years. I think
@B1GTide hit it on the head after the Rose Bowl in that the more you hear and see him the more you get the feeling that he believes that he has arrived and buys into his press.
This is not to suggest that Milroe is a bad quarterback or that Ty and the others are better options, but I’m getting the feeling that Milroe is far more Kelly Bryant than Jayden Daniels. If I’m wrong then I would be happy because it would be a great story but based on what has actually been revealed I don’t see the fall being much different at this point.
Just FWIW… This was the first time Ty actually looked great to me. So before someone calls me a Ty fan I’m far from an advocate or supporter of team Ty.
I think CKD will chose the best distributor of the short and intermediate passes. I really think his goal was to survive the spring and deal with the roster in the fall. I think it’s clear that it will either be Milroe or Simpson at this point.
